Hey Mike. I get asked about my tires all the time. They are from Diamond Back tires, http://www.dbtires.com/ . They are exact reproductions of the dual band whitewall tires that were optional on the Lincolns in 77-79. They also offer the opposite of the tires on my car which are the correct ones for 70s Cadillacs. I love them and I am planning on ordering a set for my 72 Custom Cruiser.
By the way, they can make any whitewall configuration you want....dual band, triple band...varying widths, etc.

As to the Givenchy, I agree the color on the Givenchy was amazing. It was "crystal blue" metallic moondust. It was only offered for one year (1979) and ONLY on the Givenchy. It could not be ordered on any other Mark or Continental. It is really beautiful in person...a slight hint of violet in the blue. My Givenchy was one of only 2200 built and had a factory moonroof and 5,900 original miles. It was spectacular. These cars featured a unique forward half roof treatment and actual Givenchy Fabric sewn into the upholstery, as well as special striping that ended in the Givenchy Gs. Very cool

Thanks for the information on the tires. I will certainly be checking them out for Bertha. If they aren't too outrageous for price, I'll be going that route. Finding good tires with whitewalls is difficult these days, and since Bertha is a daily driver, and I am on the highway all the time, I need really good tires.

That Givenchy is INCREDIBLE. I see what they did with the roof. They did the canopy vinyl instead of the regular landau treatment. Just beautiful. About the only roof treatment that is rarer is likely the few that were built with no vinyl top at all! I've seen one or two like that, and to me, those look the best of all. The blue on them is beautiful as well. Next time I have a blue Ford, that is the colour it will be painted!

I was a Lincoln guy for many of my years. Had maybe 8 or 10 or so of them. Love the old Lincolns and love the Mark VII's, too.

    Hey Silver -
Ya, I love Lincolns. I have never owned a Mark VII. I like them but I lean toward the more traditional look of the previous cars.
    I have owned the following:
1956 Mark II - one of my all time favorite cars. Rolling art in my opinion.
1970 Mark III - flawless 60k mile car.
1976 Mark IV - (2) including VERY rare "black diamond edition"
1977-79 Mark Vs -lost count...at least 15. Five 79 Collectors (including rare Silver), three 79 Bill Blass, two 79 Givenchy,
    1980 Mark VI coupe

    1967 Continental Convertible
1977-79 Town Cars (4), including Collectors Series
    1978 Town Coupe

Mike, the tires run about $239 each I think. So they are not cheap....but look fantastic and are so much more unique than the Vogue tires.

As to roof treatments, you are right..the metal roofed cars are seldom seen. Interestingly the vinyl roofs were NOT standard equipment on the standard Mark V (they were on the designer editions). So you would think you would see more. I was told that the vinyl roof treatment was SO popular in the 70s (really on nearly every make/model) that the dealers simply ordered every Mark V with vinyl. The painted roof cars were ordered for specific customers. I owned a really nice 78 Mark V with no vinyl painted in Dark Cordovan Metallic (dark burgundy). It was really beautiful.
