I am not sure if I have ever bothered to introduce myself in the 5 years I have been lurking here. My name is Chuck, I am a single 44 year old, live in Seattle, WA; and I am a wagon-aholic. Clamshells are my favorite, but I love all old wagons. Currently the garage looks like this: 1972 Olds Custom Cruiser Wagon 1995 Mercedes e320 Wagon 2003 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas sedan 1967 Olds Cutlass Convertible 1979 Lincoln Mark V 'Collectors Series' (10k miles) Past wagons: 1972 & 1973 & 1983 Olds Custom Cruisers (one of each) 1972 & 1973 & 1990 & 1993 & 1994 Buick Estates (one of each) 1970 Mercury Marquis Wagon 1984 Mercury Colony Park Wagon 1977 Chrysler Town and Country 1978 Dodge Monaco Crestwood wagon 1987 Ford Taurus Wagon 1994 & 1995 Mercedes e320 Wagon and probably a few more I have missed....
Welcome! Great collection. Of the lot, though, my favorite is not one of the wagons. I love those 79 Lincolns. The is one sweet ride, and with that mileage, I'm betting it is mint! Let's see pictures!
Hey Mike.... I also have a major Mark V fetish. I have owned 15 of them! My first, a '77 I bought in 1988 when i was 19! lol. My friends thought I was nuts. My favorite is the Collectors Series....the most expensive American production car you could buy in 79....my car stickered at a staggering $24,000. The base Mark V was $13,000, Designer Mark Vs $17-18k, and Cadillac's most expensive car (Seville Elegante) was $19,XXX. I have owned four white Collectors Series. Trading "up" each one for a nicer and nicer car. I bought my current car in 2005 from the original owner with 8,300 original miles! It now has 10,100. The car is as new and my baby. ;-)
I don't believe there is a time line for an intro, so glad you finally decided to make yourself known. Man you must be tough on your cars...so many...Hope they all went to better homes and you didn't just wear them out. But what makes me scratch my head is how could you be a lurker here with all the stuff going on, logical or not, without saying anything.
Well Fannie...I only listed the wagons....if I had listed ALL the cars I have owned in the last 15 years it would blow your mind. Not sure I would want to know myself....there have been MANY Lincolns and Cadillacs, a '79 Rolls, Several Mercedes, a BMW , Cordobas (2), a rare 82 Frank Sinatra Imperial, and a few more. Literally dozens of cars. I love the hunt, then I find them and get bored and move them on to someone else. It is one of the advantages of being single with no kids. No alimony, no child support, and no college funds here! lol.
I totally understand because I would be the exact opposite and now we have a sweet grandson, the little cutie. I like your statement about your car being your wife I tell hubby mine is like a big purse...alot of our money is going into it although so far he's been the one spending it...
I need to take some underhood shots. Here are some pix of the interior. This interior is unique to just the Collectors Series...special buckets with a leather covered console, leather covered dash, leather covered seat backs. All interior trim (garnish moldings, etc) is covered in fabric...not color matched plastic. Note the nicely tailored fabric headliners and upholstered interior sail panels in rear. This interior was so expensive to produce that if you ordered a Collector's Series with leather they actually REDUCED the price! This edition came with a special leather covered tool kit in the trunk, leather bound owners manual and a unique flat umbrella that slides into the console lid! There's also a shot I love....parked next to my '79 Givenchy edition (5900 miles!, SOLD). Didn't mean to go off topic with a non-wagon!! lol.
Well Chuck, if you like wagons, and you like Lincoln Marks, you're gonna love this one...... Forum gallery page: I know the owner, SWF forum member Barron.Flanders lives in the SF bay area, and if he hasn't sold it already, might be still interested. Send him a PM.
Hey Krash. That is an awesome wagon. I have seen pix of that car before a few years back. Very cool. My ULTIMATE wagon is a Cadillac clamshell. That is definitely on the list to own someday. Clamshells are my favorite wagons and a Cadillac version would be the ultimate luxo cruiser. I kinda think my Custom Cruiser is the closest thing to a factory version of one....with the fender skirts and rear finned fenders.
Choust: Love the white one, but that Givenchy blue is my absolute favorite! I have a thing for blue cars, and that particular blue is perfect. It looks like one of the blues that was used on a 77 Thunderbird prototype for the 78 Diamond Edition. Here's a question for you. What tires are on the Continental? those whitewalls look spectacular, and come spring I need a set of tires for Bertha. Of course, Bertha is also due for a trip to the body shop. 35 Ontario winters have taken their toll, even though she only has 26,000 miles on the clock.
