GREAT wagon. I do agree, though, that converting the brakes to power assist is a great idea, and not difficult to do, either. Stopping a car that size and weight in a hurry, should some bonehead pull something stupid, is just not to be thought of unless to have legs like Charles Atlas, especially with discs up front. Having lived with manual brakes, I can tell you that they are a never again proposition for me, not even on a car i drive for special occasions.
That car looks great. Congrats. My buddy has a 65 Impala 4 door hard top in that same color. Looks great with those wheels too. Enjoy it!
Might help to do a little research on that year Toby. I'm sure some Bow Ties had power brakes that year. I'd think you'll need a different brake peddle, push rod, booster and Master Cylinder, and maybe a new proportioning Valve. I'd make friends with a guy in your faverate partz Store and have him help you with the research. Then you'll know Jer
I think 65 is my favorite year for 60's Chevys. Love the styling, so clean and so mean. Neat car! Hope spring comes soon for you so you can enjoy it!
Do research online and order an aftermarket brake booster combo. They have a smaller diameter booster and come with the master cylinder and proportioning valve. You can order chrome or anodized complete for less for $300. Easy to install and well worth the money and labor to have power brakes
If you know the supplier of the disc brake conversion, talk to them. They will have the right parts to work with what is on the car. if the conversion was done using donor parts from another Chev, that is the car to look up for the booster, master cylinder, and proportioning valve.
The supplier of the disc brake conversion is PST. He also put a new master cylinder on at the time, but I'm not sure if that will work with a power booster. I'll have to contact the manufacturer. This was also originally a 3 on the tree car, so the pedal is a little different. Clearance will be really close, I think it will fit, but we'll see. I'm sure they will know.
