This is another sad event. Many museums have closed because of expenses and lack of interest by the public. I'm sure the lack of interest is also due to lack of money by the public. Keep raising prices on goods and lowering wages. Soon we will all be sitting at home playing on computers. That is until they become too expensive and too complicated for the average person. And until internet ceases to exist.
I am glad I had the opportunity to visit the WPC museum in 2009. Its sad to see it go, but I guess in this economy, its somewhat understandable.
The Detroit Auto News article mentioned that the museum had about 35,000 visitors last year so there's more to this than lack of interest IMO.
This is a real shame. Seems that the many good things of the past are being wiped off the table forever. So many things that the young people of today and those coming after them will never get to see or enjoy. History should never be hidden away...it should be preserved to speak for itself. I am saddened by this closure.
