Just found the site, glad to see there are other 'Wagonnuts' around. I have a 1965 Studebaker Daytona Wagonaire that I've owned since 2006. It is definitely a driver, but always gets looks and comments. I'm running a mild 350 Chevy with a Tremec 5-speed, and the factory 3.70 Twin Traction rear end. The Daytona has the sliding rear roof section, factory reclining seats, sawy bars, power disc brakes, power rear window and knee-knocker air conditioning. I added the Boyd's wheels and CD player. Hopefully I will soon get other projects caught up and get started on paint and detailing on the Wagonaire. Glenn, glad you found your way here. That is a nice looking Study you got there...I don't think I've seen a sliding roof before:confused: Maybe??? However it seems new to me today. You have two wagons? Nice Is the truck yours also? Thanks for suppling the photos we all enjoy having a peek.
Thanks for the welcome. The yellow wagon and the red '62 Studebaker car hauler belong to fellow Studebaker nut Jack Heidle. The pic of my Wagonaire was taken on the return trip when I bought the wagon. The sliding roof was a Studebaker feature from '63-'66, very practical. I can haul an upright refrigerator or cheerleaders in a Christmas parade, with style.
Personally that '63 on the hauler makes me quiver. Loved that plastic car from the 1st day I saw one BTW, Your sliding roof hauler ain't half bad either aboard, Jer
I have a question were avanti built by studebaker, and was studebaker a rambler. I think that truck is way too cool and its a studebaker? Studebaker to rambler to american motors?
Studebaker was their own. They were not tied to Rambler or AMC in any way 'cept maybe in that they bought parts from some of the same folks. Like Borg Warner and maybe Dana? The original Avanti ('63/4) was built by Studebaker. Later Avantis (a.k.a. Avanti IIs) were built by several folks including Avanti Motors. Much past that I get confused. The Avanti story is a long twisted one. The truck pictured above is a Studebaker. It's a distant cousin of my bus~ Oh yes- welcome to the 'new guy'!!!
