So about a year and a half ago I found my moms old station wagon sitting at a family friends house. It has been sitting there since the death of my mother 39 years ago. I finally got a hold of the property owner and picked it up on this past sunday. The wagon is a 1966 meteor 9 pass, with 72000 on the odometer. Iam having trouble finding info on the net about these cars. Sofar I have decoded the door tag. built may 11 in oakville ont. 390/c6 medium turquoise,9" with 3.00:1. I will post pictures a little later.

You have a great car there! Also a rare one. Having the family connection just makes it even better. What are you wanting to know about the old girl? Remember, the Meteor Montcalm was the Canadian equivalent of the American Mercury Monterey, and some of the trim parts are the same. The mechanicals are straightforward Ford/mercury parts and easy enough to come by. Upgrading the front brakes is an easy fix, too, as it seems the front brakes off a 72 - 76 Torino, 77 - 79 Thunderbird & LTD II, 74 - 79 Cougar, and 72 - 76 Montego will all bolt right in. Those parts are common as dirt, and none are very expensive. Have fun with her, and be sure to post the pics, and what you do with her. Good luck.

Looks like quite the very interesting project. I only hope the undercarriage isn't too badly rusted from sitting out on the earth for so very long. She's a beauty, that is for sure, and a very rare model. The good thing is that it seems that the Montcalm specific trim is intact and that is the hardest part!

The only things that are missing are the tail lights, rear emblem, alternator and the steering wheel center. The under side of the car didn't look to bad considering it been there for 40 years.

Good that you were able to find and retrieve it. It's a rare car now.

I believe the tail lamps are standard Mercury units, so they should be relatively easy to find. The rear badge and steering wheel centre are both Meteor specific, and could be quite a challenge. Looks to be a good candidate for a full restoration, at least. Be sure you keep us up to date. Can't wait to see this very rare one back amongst the living!

Iam not going to start working on it until the spring, I have to clear out some other projects first. I have started looking for replacement parts, do you now if they use the same suspension and mechanical parts as a galaxie??

Iam not going to start working on the wagon till sometime next year, I have some other projects that need to be dealt with first. I have already started looking for parts. Do you know what cars interchange parts with the wagon? Galaxie?

The Mercury and Meteor wagons shared pretty much everything with the Ranch Wagon, Country Sedan and Country Squires, including wheel base. The Merc/Meteor wagons were on the shorter Ford platform, not the longer mercury one of the coupes and sedans. Mechanical parts are easy to get for them.
