I just went out for lunch and there is a door ding on the right rear door. Just makes me sick!! People are idiots!
It's staggering just how many dumba$$es there are out there. We've had more than our share of lengthy discussions around here about how great things were back in the 50's and 60's when people actually showed respect for other people and their property. We really need to go back. Something has got to give. Everyone gets so focused on where they're going and what they want that absolutely nothing else matters to them. It's getting pretty tiring. Sorry this had to happen to you, man. You, of all people, didn't deserve that grief.
For that very reason I park all my vehicles on an end row or at a little used part of parking lots. Even my DD truck. Still I have some dings and scratches on it. I've come out of a store to my truck or 55 Chevy which was parked all alone to find cars on both sides or shopping carts way too close! My very own aunt, long gone, had a late 70's Malibu two-door. Long doors. I saw her more than once get out while parked too close to other cars, bang her door on them. Not once, but repeatedly as she used the door to help get herself out. All she'd say is "it's just a car." This is normal for many older drivers. Actually most all drivers period! This is one reason many vehicles now have rubber or plastic "rub strips." These are usually in the wrong places also! What we all need are "BUMPER CARS." Strangely, as much as I try, I can't remember getting dings anytime I parked in factory parking lots or down town. Maybe drivers were more careful in the good ole days??????????
Cat, I'll let our friend from Austin 'splain to yeah 'bout "IMPERVIOUS COVER" down there in Tejas and how it affects the size of the white line spacing for parking in that area. Anything wider then ah Geo Metro iz asking for trouble sad tah say:banghead3:
My new Custom Cruiser...yes. Right rear passenger door. I'm going to take it to the paintless dent place. I have no idea who was parked next to me. I think it was an Accord....
What a stinkin' shame, I hate people. Does the lot have security cameras? That's like a hit and run accident for what stuff costs to fix these days.
You may be right. But from the photos I've seen Mike take of his cars and that lot the spaces seem decent. However, back when I was forced to work for a living, spaces most likely were even wider for real American cars and trucks, even in the Midwest where I grew up. And most drivers respected other vehicles. Now iffin that wagon was in my care it would be parked inside at nite and at the far end of a parking lot with me guarding it when shopping. For the safety of the wagon I think I need to hitch a ride to Texas and get it.
I don't always go out to the 'back 40' to park, but I usually 'analyze' any parking space I'm going to use. Is the space wide enough? What kind of people are liable to be the owners of cars I'm parking next to?. If I'm seeing negative issues, I go elsewhere. Already got ding in the HHR. Don't know where / when it happened. Just noticed it in the garage one day.
. I've done this, parked far away from other cars, awwaaayyyy ovvveerrrr theereee, so no one else is around my truck. I go into the store/mall whatever, come out and it's surounded by other cars! I think this is some kind of sick parking lot joke. They see you park awwaaayyyy ovvveerrrr theereee and the second your out of sight they swarm you car then hide and wait for your reaction when you return...sick bast*****! Sorry to hear about this, maybe out should put together a CSI kit and start checking out a few Accords tomorrow.
Only problem with parking your car out in the backend of a lot is it leaves it more prone to vandals and thieves. You don't even have to have anything of value, someone just has to think you do. When I had a 1986 Mustang GT convertible I used to park it toward the end of where everyone else was parking, but not completely away from other vehicles. And with it being a convertible, I never locked the doors, I just kept anything of value in the trunk. For those of you who haven't owned a convertible, you never lock the doors or if someone wants to break in, they don't break the glass, they cut your roof! Anyhow, I never had a problem in the 9 years I owned the car, but had plenty of issues with my daily drivers where I didn't follow that same policy. You think I would've figured that out at some point. But I have to agree, most people are mostly indifferent when it comes to their vehicles and even more so to yours. But you can't force them to care. At least not yet ... Sorry to hear about the damage and I hope they are able to pop it back out without any sign of the damage.
I went into a tool rental lot to rent a 40ft ladder. I jumped in my truck after looking over all their ladders to find a straight one and tying it to my truck and away I went. I finished with the ladder and took it back to the rental yard again it wasnt in and out it was quite busy. Anyhow Saturday comes and its bath time for my truck and I wash the top then the windshield and down to the grill, wait a minute what the heck happened here.By the look of things some one backed into my truck with a trailer hitch right square on my licence plate and into my chrome bumper totally pushing in my bumper enough to crease the whole bumper. well I have no idea who did it and probably happened at the rental lot but I didnt notice it for a few days and it could have happened anywhere. But I have 300 deductable so I wont be fixing it. I got new plates that covered the dent but if you look at the truck you can still see the wrinkle
