Thought I'd share these pics of the 68 Pontiac safari I looked at. Owner is hemming and hawing about whether to sell it. But he took my # and says I got first dibs..LOL
Its only got 86,000 miles, and has been parked for the last 3 years, never heard it run (needed a boost), but he says the only thing it needs is exhaust work.
    Enjoy!!! Ken

I hope you can bring her home!!!! Canadian Full Size Pontiac's (59-70) always look odd to me with the "Wide Track" body, and the Chevy narrow Wheel track, and the little V-8 engine under the hood, I am used to seeing a 400, or 428 under the big hood.

But ramblings aside it looks like a great starting point.

If he ever gets around to deciding whether to sell or not, it would be a great car. Hopefully it runs as well as it looks.

Have you got any pics posted of your 73 lemans wagon? With a 4-speed...That Cool!!!!!

The 'little' V8's included 396 and 427's, and in early 65, could be a 409.
That would be one rare car.

Me too. We were supposed to get the identical vehicles after the 1965 AutoPact, and a lot of us were drooling for the wide track ponchos. We got the nameplates.

You're well located in Calgary. Drive over to Montana and western North Dakota, and you'll find a pile of 60's Pontiacs with the big rearends and the US options. Its a few hours trip to MN, and another couple to ND. Hit the smaller towns and country roads.

I have heard the "it runs good it just need a battery" line too many times. What I do is bring a jump pack when I go to look at something that does not start.

Yeah, when I bought mine, I told him he'd better run it for me if I was gonna buy it. He did, and I took it home, but I never buy If I can't listen to it run.

I promosed myself that many times before going to look at a car, but when falling in love, there seems to be no limit to the amount of excuses my brain can come up with to convince myself that it is not absolutely needed or that the rust hole can easily be fixed... :hmmm:

OMG! That is SO TRUE! Amazing how the brain rationalizes buying what anyone else would see as pure JUNK, yet we (car guys) see only the beauty of a new project even when we know its a rolling money pit!

Ok Guys, I hear yall loud and clear, but what's the trick in convincing the wife??? LOL!!! :rofl2:

For me it took bringing up her furry friends. She is such a dog lover and although I'm not proud of it, snicker snicker, I had to go cut throat and list the Vet bills, grooming bills, misc "just had to have" items from PetsMart, etc. Believe me I had to go all out, but in the end we are both happy with our cherished "feel good" purchases.

Well, worst comes to worse, it comes down to what means more. My fiance and I broke up because I couldn't give up the hobby. And she refused to let me have a wagon. Well, here I am, fine without her, and now I have my wagon! :)

Well, the excuses my brain comes up with that seem so rational and convincing to me, have absolutely not the same effect on my SWMBO. And maybe that is good. If it comes to cars, somebody forgot to fix the brakes on me. It just means that my arguments should be better (or real in the first place!).
I am a real Beta (technical) person, while my wife is purely alpha (humanistic), so I have tried the "you don't understand, this is too technical" route sometimes, but that doesn't seem to cut it anymore either.
