Any how I think Ive got my pictures up(very proud of myself for that)and let me tell you I LOVE THIS SITE.I am currently recieving my last bout of chemo so I have a lot of time on my hands(literally)and this site is totally cool.I have been reading everything.so much to learn.some of you guys blow me away with your knowledge of cars I love it.You pointed me to sitrs I never would have found Thank you for that.Jim68 cuda put a face to my wagon for the promo of the 66 monaco wagon that is identical to mine. The Rev pm me and hes a classic car expert who finds parts WOW.I havent done anything yet but drive my wagon but winter is coming and I know this awesome site with lots of advice...I have been reading about the station wagon theory on exhaust coming in thru the back window.I dont have AC so It is nice vents open windows down good air flow.I have one pipe behind passenger rear wheel that dosnt allow back window down because of exhaust smell. What should I do? I am planning on dual exhaust and yes REV I want that whatwasthat kind of response when anyone heres my car start up.But I also believe my wagon would run more efficient with dual exhaust and a 4bb.Anyhow what kind of exhaust pipes and what direction should they go to deal with this. Also just wondering what transmission and rear gears would be in my wagon?Wow this is exhausting......
66mopar wagonGlad you found the wagon forum and are on your own personal road to recovery. That alone must be exhausting. As for wagon exhaust problems I must be very lucky. Had our 55 Chevy on the road since late 80's. At first had glaspacks and duels out just in front of each rear wheel. Later and for a good number of years, Cherry Bombs with the tail pipes ending just before the rear axle. Always plannned on running them over the rear axle and out straight below the bumper guards. I forget and it sounds and performs well as is. No smell or problems with dust or dirt on the rear window or tail gate. It' ain't broke so I don't fix it. We all thank you for the compliments.
Thanks for the welcome Im having a good day so Ill probably be around all day.Got up for an early morning appointment and there was dew on my windows so I got to see my defogger and heater work.Thats the only thing i am concerned about is my 46 year old radiator/cooling system, heater core and all.I havent had my car up on a hoist yet thats something I really am eager to do.Maybe this week Ill get out and get some estimates on exhaust and get someone to pressure test my cooling system.I would hate to have my rad explode on one of the many mountain roads around greater Vancover.although my rad is copper but old
well...the Noisy exhaust is all fun n games till you have to add a Amplifier to the stereo to hear it... not to mention having to HOLLER while driving on the freeway
thats funny Good points and as of now 650 senile is all Im getting on am radio. dont want megaphone exhaust just something to sound good on takeoff
Glad you are having fun here 66mopar and wish you well in your recovery! Not sure been a couple years since I owned it but I had a 66 C-10 with what I believe was a flowmaster 70 series. It was nice and mellow and had a nice tone when you took off. I even swapped to a mildly built engine and it was a little louder but really mild and mellow compared to my other cars with flowmaster 40 series.
Behind the Chrysler big block, you are hard pressed to find much that sounds nicer than the DynaFlow mufflers. Not loud, but a nice mellow sound that seems to work really well with the natural resonance from that engine. Go dual 2 1/4 with an H balance tube, and she'll sound like a million dollars. Talk to the shop about where they suggest you run the pipes, making sure they know that you want to run with the back window open. The pipes should come out on the sides, likely behind the back wheels, and the exact location will be determined by the contours of the body and frame back there.
