Well, I mentioned to a buddy of mine that has a Mustang like mine, that I was considering selling mine. He said if he had the money he'd buy it. Knowing that he has built some insane off road machines in the last couple of years, I asked him if he would be interested in trading labor. We haven't finalized anything yet but so far the plan for my 81 Eagle is to swap a Ford 5.0L (he'll supply the engine) and do a solid axle swap ( I have a set of matching Wrangler axles) and I'll also get a 93 Ford Mustang 4 cyl auto (for my stepson) from him. Still debating the whole plan though since I've had my Mustang for 22 1/2 years. It needs paint and body work and I would want to do some engine work to it to make it how I want it. I'm guessing it needs about $7k to get it where I want it and I don't have the money to do it and even if I did I don't think I could spend it on the car.

It will look similar to this one when done.

The AMC 258 is definately not know for it's great MPGs. I'm sure I'll have close to the same MPGs and twice the HP. My buddy picked up the engine for it on Sunday. It's out of a 95 Mustang GT. Plus I'll be throwing in a 5 speed instead of the 4 speed that is in it know.
    Here's the Nike AMC Seagle

I looked at buying an eagle wagon as my winter vehicle. I live in the boonies, and 2 wheel, rear wheel drive, is not fun. I found one for 400 dollars with a valve cover leak (no biggy) but it was gone by the time I called. My mom's first car was an AMC eagle, sport model. It was a lemon, she only had it a few years and went through 2 engines and a couple transmissions, among other repairs, such as fuel pumps, starters, etc. She must have gotten the ONLY lemon AMC ever made.

Yeah, that's a unique story and sorry to here it. They usually would last for years without any major problems. Heck one of my Eagles is 27 years old and the other is 22 years old and they still have the original engines and trannys.

You dare! ;) We have quite some Eagle fans here, including myself, although I never owned one.
