Hey all im from New Zealand & am in the process of a full restoration on a 1956 ranchwagon! My brother use to own this vehicle until he passed away in 1990 we used the ranchwagon to transport my brother's body to the crematorium & then my dad sold it on to one of his friends at the funeral who then sold it again to another friend who i have recently just purchased it back off 22 years later! It is not the best condition & requires alot of money put back into it to get it to look satisfactory but the sentimental value of this vehicle is priceless to me!
thats my story & my starting point of this project!

Now a little about my interests i am into my rotary vehicles i have a 78 rx7 convertible & a mk2 escort that also has a rotary in it so dont hate me because im different lol! I also show pitbull terriers at the dog shows here in New Zealand which i enjoy very much & get alot of recognition for both my cars & my animals!

in saying that my newly found project has taken up alot of my thoughts as to how to approach this situation to the point where my visions out way my bank account!

Im on here to get new ideas find out what parts are interchangeable & stuff like that! i cant wait to scroll through & see what sorts of vehicles other people own & am happy to be part of this forum!

:Welcome: Bazirk great intro. What a history your car has. Glad it didn't disappear after your brother's furneral. Sorry about your brother. And how incrediable to get it back. That is cool, very cool. :thumbs2:

Dogs and wagons just seem to go together (except for those who have cats) some folks get it and some folks don't.

Welcome! That's cool that you got the wagon back - what are your plans for it? Got any pics?

Hey, Bazirk, welcome to the forum....

I appreciate the Rotaries as well. (or is it 'Rotarys'........IDK)
My first brand-new car was a 1974 Mazda RX-4 (sedan). That was the wife's car. Shortly after that, I saw a slighty used yellow RX-4 wagon at the same dealership, and picked that up too, so for a while at least we were a 4 rotor family. Moved on to other vehicles, but in early 2011 we bought our younger daughter a well-used 2004 RX-8 (6-speed). She likes it.

love to see some pics of the Ranch Wagon... What are your plans for it?

Thank you guys the wagon is still to be picked up from the person i purchased it off about two months ago! Just waiting for a friend who is living closer to where the car is located to find descent weather to pick it up & then he will start the welding on it! It is quite a big project but i have nothing but time! I have owned 81 vehicles so i know whats instore & how much of an expense this situation is going to be! But im more than prepared! Will try find some pictures & upload them for you guys to view!

Well thats so awesome to hear the rotary culture in NZ is quite extreme & the laws here are pretty harsh on any modified japanese vehicle!

My plans are to c-notch the chassis so its as low as possible on some nice wheels not to much into taking it back to original because thats when it gets to expensive! my wife suggested a rollcage so will see what eventuates from all these visions!! As mentioned its a long term project but i have a few friends in the right places when it comes to welding & fabrication work!
