1989 Crown Vic Upgraded to Police Specs.

I have edged the 89 Crown Vic wagon in Midnight Blue, cleaned, then painted the front of the frame, installed cargo coils all around, police package control arms, all new front end parts except the center link, installed a 3.55 axle, and recently installed a junk yard motor and trans which i detailed and painted, (the motor and trans were shot). I also upgraded to a 100 Amp alternator. I put a 140 MPH speedometer and police gauges in the passenger side dash. I attached some pictures. I installed most of a dual exhaust on the car. Does anyone know the difference between the 89 and 90 tail pipes, or the part numbers? I put the h-pipe on, mufflers and right side tail pipe, (the right side tail pipe Walker part number was 44660). I can't find the left tail pipe. I think I might have to have one made.

Having LOTS of experience with the last generation of square body Panthers, the left side tail pipe was the same for all the years. It didn't change until the 92's, which did not have a wagon anyway. I would give serious thought to having the entire exhaust made up, using 2 1/4 inch pipes, though. The factory 2 inch doesn't scavenge as well, which hurts both performance and fuel economy. The difference in sound in negligible. Sounds like an interesting project you have going. The Police Package anti-sway bars are the same as the Trailer Tow III bars, if you had the 351 in the TT III package car. Makes the bars and bushings slightly easier to get. Personally, I prefer the Trailer Tow III shocks to the Police Package ones, but get the shocks for the 351 car as well. They are stiffer than the 302 ones.

After some of the above posts, I feel like a slacker.
I replaced the old hard thermostat bypass and power steering return hoses.
I readjusted the A/C belt, and adjusted the rear door striker posts.
Of course to do that I had to dig through half of my shed to find the torx bits, but I'll need them again when I go to the boneyard for seat belts.
After I drive around a little bit, I'll degrease the engine compartment for the third time. Its hard to tell the Ziebart anti rust coating from grease, untill you get it on your hands.
Its really too hot to do much else, and I have mommas Briggs & Stratton powered garden tiller to work on...... :162:

Man, Falcon4, you don't waste any time!

Looks real good so far. You ought to start a project thread for the whole thing (in our 'project' subsection of course). If the timing (and $$) had been been better, that one might have been in my garage.

Just recently heard that the V8-powered '62 Valiant wagon that I was interested in is headed your way.......

Put 2 new tires on back (dry rot got the others) and started driving it again. Need to do a complete teardown, someday.

Installed the Buick Rally wheels and detailed the wagon and my wife's 67 Firebird for the car show Saturday, then realized I just cannot drive the wagon with the Rally wheels on it. What to do what to do, I have tomorrow to find wheels and tires to make it presentable. I know everyone on here likes the Rally wheels but I just can't do it

Sprayed down all the bolts with penetrant for eventual replacement of the bumper on one wagon, washed and began to polish/wax the other.

Just took Grrretchen (1976 Ford Country Squire) for her first long roadtrip since having the AOD wedged behind the new engine. Drove 85 miles on 6.7 gallons of fuel -- which is 1.7 mpg better than the literature says the wagon should get. Also tested the speedometer speed against GPS speed. Two key measurements: when the speedo says i am doing 60mph, i am really going 71mph; when the speedo says Grrretchen is going 85mph, apparently we are going 100mph. Didn't go much faster than that, but it was surprisingly smooth and felt like there was plenty of power left...when i slowed down to reasonable speed i got several :2_thumbs_up_-_anima from the rednecks in jacked up trucks that I passed on the way to 85mph (100mph?).

Now i just need to get the speedo gear fixed and work on the plethora of cosmetic tasks ahead.

Drove Nicole's 96 roadmaster wagon packed full down to New mexico (soccoro) from Mchenry. car drove and felt great! We averaged 24 MPG with the 5.7 LT1. Now she has a great car to get her around at school! Next is to pay some attention to our other roadmaster wagon (also 96). That one will need some exhaust work and two new front tires. Right now it is in the garage on the battery charger. My son drove it to school and somehow turned on the hazards and they stayed on for over 10 hrs!
