Hello everyone. I am new to this form. I just wanted to let everybody know, my hobby is to keep as much of any old cars I can out of the scrap yards. Right now I have a 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 Fiesta that I can strip off everything I can. If anyone has any need for parts for this car let me know. The owner is going to use it in a Demo-derby next year and is going to strip it anyway, before he crushes it after the derby. It is about 95% complete.

    Huge shame?

Yes it is a Huge shame this is going to the demo-derby. That, and what I can make from selling the parts, is why I save as much as I can. I am disabled and on social security only. This is the only way I can make the bills. I am also a lover of old cars and trucks. It breaks my heart to see these old gals going to the crusher.

:Welcome:to the forum. I suppose saving one piece at a time helps. But sadly too many good wagons are lost to the crusher and the demo derbys. When these parts are gone otherwise nice wagons will not be restored or kept maintained. Do what you can and good luck.

Well good on ya for saving as much as you can. I am of limited funds as well, and I hate seeing a car come across craigslist, or whatever, where the seller is getting rid of the car to put in a demo derby, and there's nothing I can do about it. Watched a mid 60s Olds Ninety-Eight go that route. Breaks my heart, too.

Yea, no what you mean. They should have a law that forbids cars 1974 and older to be used in Demo-derbys. I need to strip the rear door but it is locked. One guy said to drill out the lock. I would like to save the lock. I was thinking of cutting around the door lock to get to the linkages, to disconnect them. Would it be better to cut from the ouside or the inside?
