I know you guys out west have already been dealing with 100+ degree daytime temps.....now apparently that heat is gonna roll east. We're forecast for 98 tomorrow, 103 Friday, then 105 Sat here in beautiful Coweta Co., GA. and . Now that the crying is out of the way.........what's ya'll's operating plans for dealing with the heat? Here at the 2 Moto households, we're dialing up our thermostats to 80 from 78. There's just no way the puny systems on our houses can pull down 100+ daytime temps to 78 without running almost continuously. Continuous operation in this heat can't be good on compressors, etc. I'm also thinking about installing a ventilated screen on the west side of my outdoor AC unit to block the direct afternoon sun off of it without restricting airflow. Anyone else have any ideas/tips on how to beat the heat?

And now a short musical interlude: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE2fnYpwrng

I think the whole country is getting this heat. In the midwest we haven't seen rain for a month. Crazy. Not sure about beating the heat. Maybe

I'm guessing(?) your talking about California?....sure is no heat like that up here yet.

AC in the house?....OOOwwwww, life styles of the rich and famous:rofl2:

IMO, covering yet ventilating your AC outside is a good investment... shade makes a big difference, and keeping rain off, snow off, just helps that much more in the long run for up keep:yup: Just make sure you don't restrick air, that will cause you more harm than good.

Venting the house, even to this day houses are not designed to "breath" properly, this ads to heat build up inside the home. Keep your blinds/curtains closed also s it helps keep the place cool. If your temp drops in the nite...open all the windows, let that cool air in but make sure you close everything up before the sun comes up.

No AC in my house, but when I bout it there was only one roof vent and it cooked inside the house. I added several more roof vents.... when I cut the 1st one in, the heat came out like opening your oven when on broil. Added R20 insulation to the attick and over nite the house was cooler.

Another simple thing to watch come winter and snow/frost..... who's roof holds them the longest? Is snow/frost disapear fast compard to other houses..... you know your heat is going rite out the roof if it melts fast, several house on my street melt fast.... I hold the frost snow, tells me heat is not escaping. Proper insulation works both ways for heat and cold.

I think we reached 75 here today and the forecast shows the temps declining back to upper 60's through the weekend with some pissy drizzle expected.

    Send some summer my way.

We've been in broiler mode here in Memphis for a little while now and it's getting hotter. Hit 102° today and it's supposed to be 104° tomorrow & 103° Saturday. Also, we're way behind on rainfall so it's bone dry as well. Hopefully the 4th of July doesn't light us up like Colorado.

Thanks guys. That's good advice Tedy, I'm doing most all those things already except the shading of my outdoor AC unit.

It is well into the 90s here, and so I don't venture far from my air conditioner unless I have no choice. Have to get the A/C in Nora working soon!

Hit 104 here today. I was outside most of the day working on my brakes. Fortunately, the humidity was low so it really wasn't that bad. Unfortunately, after spending several hours trying to bleed the brakes with no luck, I came to the realization that the rebuilt master cylinder I bought this morning was defective. The fluid leaking from the back of the MC where it mounts to the booster, was the hint. :banghead3:

101 here today in bucolic Coweta County, GA. I have heard that a large percentage of rebuilt master cylinders, rebuilt alternators, and possibly other components are defective these days. Doesn't say much for the reman industry here.
