Thanks for that, way! I hope you will continue to keep us posted on the car and how it's running. That looked like a fun trip except for the problem. Great to have good friends!(y)

    Gulf stations..........

As I recall, living in California we didn't have them on the 50's and 60's, then they started showing up in the 70's I believe. Then they were gone, left faster than they arrived. Don't know why......

Does your Satellite wagon have the original Lean Burn ignition system? I can't remember when that first came out on Chrysler products. I've got Lean Burn on my '78 LeBaron sedan, and I'm leaning towards replacing it with an electronic ignition conversion kit.

I'm not a Mopar guru but I believe the lean burn system began in 76. I thought that the system was short lived but then I would see a version pop up here and there in some models even past 1980. Don't know when it was abandoned and not positive it started in 76 but I think it did start in 76.

The lean burn system was alive and well on the Plymouth Caravelle, Dodge Diplomat and Chrysler New Yorker through the end of production. It was certainly present and accounted for on the 89s, because I looked at them when I bought the Grand Marquis new.

Great story, glad it worked out. The "adventure trips" are the ones most remembered. Reading it brought back memmories of break downs and the kindly people that helped us out along the way.

73 was the first year for electronic ignition standard equipment across the chrysler corporation board.I do not have Lean Burn
Lean Burn did not come out until 1976 on 400 motor, and eventually all motor by 1978 had it.
It pretty much bankrupted the company with all the problems it caused.
My 87 Diplomat I converted the lean burn to electronic ignition since it is much more reliable.
Waygun is running great and taking a well deserved break in the garage.
It has been very hot up here and have been driving the 300C with the AC on blast...Ahhhhh
