I had looked for a 1975-1978 Ford LTD Country Squire in red, silver, or black since I was a little kid. When I got my d/l, I went hard core to find one here in IL. It wasn't till May 2005 I found a red on red '77, this was my first year at Western IL U in Macomb..... I ended up buying her for $150, not running. It was the fuel pump that went bad. I slowly brought her back up to a driving standard, she became really well known around campus. Sometimes people would ask if I brought "The Vista Cruiser" or "The Griswald cruiser"....... The day I graduated college is the same day she got into an accident. My buddy that I have known for 20 some odd years, did me a HUGE favour. He trailer towed my wagon from college to the burbs for me. The brake locked up on the trailer and there was no saving her. He rolled the truck (THANK GOD he made it just fine) and the trailer and wagon went on a ride of its life. The trailer never rolled, but it did some damage to Aunt Edna.....enough where it wasnt worth the repair costs. I got a check for the repairs and ended up buying a '78 Country Squire in green.....I much as I love the '78....the '77 means more to me and I will really miss her. The damage was all over the place and opened up rotted areas in the car. I sold her today to a demo derby guy.......gave me a really fair amount. More than the scrap guy would give me. Jonny The day I bought her... After some cleaning and love.... Her final owner picking her up....
Sorry to hear that about your Wagon. R.I.P.......Rust in Peace , Ol Great Country Squire....... Moparwagon
Yeah, replaced the woodgrain and everything! I think I have already seen this car listed on a demo-derby site!
