After installing my new air conditioner components in my 64 Country Sedan, I realized how aged the remainder of the engine and compartment looks. I have posted a picture I took of the engine when I purchased the wagon (note leaning due to broken motor mount) and a photo of a correctly painted 1964 289. I am not ready to post a photo of my progress yet. It is a real dilemma for me to paint the breather and valve covers on a Ford something other than blue or gold but I guess I will. It is strange that Ford calls the paint red but it is indeed orange. My breather and valve covers still have traces of the orange but someone painted over the valve covers at some point, perhaps at a rebuild at an unknown mileage. I guess they had the same dilemma. Has anyone else crossed this bridge? It just seems as wrong as two boys... well you know... At some point I am sure I will have to explain to every know-it-all that it is not a Chevy and yes Ford used that color in 1964.
I say it depends on if your trying to restore or not??....otherwise....paint it whatever makes you happy but yes....ORANGE....just seems wrong dont it?
I carry the correct ford red engine paint that is EXTREMELY durable. It will not stain under gas etc. paint with a brush and it flows out smooth like you painted it on. It is very shiny though.
