I am new here so please excuse me if I have overlooked an answer to a problem I am trying to fix. I have a 91 Caprice Wagon. On the back there is a vent window on each side, and they are opened by a "cam" type latch on the back and on the front of the vent window there are an upper and lower hinge that is glued to the glass. On one vent window the lower hige has come unglued from the glass. I have tried rearview mirror glue with no success. I am planning on using some Gorilla glue next. Has anyone else had any experience with these vent windows?

Common problem. The problem is so bad that when you get it fixed...leave them closed and don't ever open them. It's a stupid design. Same with the power windows...they will also have to be changed over to the new wheel type track clips inside the door panels as the old flat type individually fail.

Thanks sor the info. As of right now the windows are fine, escept rear drivers window sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. when it does, the window motor does not stop when rolled up all the way aor down all the way. Keep the switch pressed and it "pops".

I would take to a glass shop and have the hinge reglued. They have different glue than is available from the parts stores. Here, they charge $10 to reinstall a rear view mirror, and I would expect it to be the same for the vent hinge.

I remember regluing a rearview mirror on a windshield repeatedly. Kept getting more of the same special glue and in a day or so it fell off. The good thing is the Auto Parts store kept giving me another tube. Finally after tube umpteen it held!
I'd also take it to a glass place. May not be too expensive.

When the rear view mount on my 79 let go, I tried the do-it-yourself kit from the parts store. It cost MORE than having it done properly at a shop. Never again will I mess around with that.

I swear....if done right, and I'm sure you did it right, Mike (doubt Cat did:rofl2:), I have never had a single problem. I have always thought that this DIY fix was the cheapest and easiest of any around.

Hubby's in the auto glass business, he'd never charge to glue mirror back on.
I could ask him about your problem (he's gone to bed) but you might just as well take it to a shop and see what they have to say.
