OK Ya'll new I was going to say something.
First, Why don't you just hang on to her and take your time and finish it.
I have Fords that Iv had for 30 years my 66 f250, that's longer than Iv had my wife.
    67 fairlane sw 28 years, 66 Mustang 18 years.
So my point is if you don't have to sell it why sell?
You probably not get out what you put in, we rarely do.
Mine are part of my family, I would not part with them.
    Besides that's a sweet little wagon.:rant2:
    There I Feel Better Now:whew:
    By the way:Welcome:

    Am leaning

Thanks Rick. Am leaning toward keeping her for a while at least. She is very cool and I do get plenty of looks even wearing her primer grey!
Thanks for the Horn tips Stormin this Fairlane has the twin horns. Switch/horn ring to relay that feeds 12v to the horns from a regulator so pretty simple stuff(am not getting 12v to the relay so either the horn button or o/c wire to said relay. Will try and post some shots of interior so you know what I am dealing with.

Hi, that's a nice wagon, I'm a bit biased, I have a 64 Fairlane wagon. But if you feel that you should move on from a project see if anyone is willing to trade for another type of project of that same caliber.

BTW did you install the headliner? Did you install windlace? where did you get your headliner from?

    Headliner/Windlace for Abe

No I haven't installed the headliner yet but it came from dearborn classics. They are on sale the moment for the 63-65 wagon for $142. Mac's auto parts sell the cloth windlace for $2.25 a foot but they are also having a sale 15% off windlace I think? Good luck

Your dismay with your wagon is understandable, but if you really like the car and enjoy driving it be patient and try things yourself. Its a piece of metal theonly way metal can beat you is if someone hits you with it. It dosen't have to be perfect and whats done can be redone. Every great mechanic , bodyman or painter started just like you.i've been doing it 50 years and believe me i've screwed up as much as i've made beautiful. And if anyone else that does this is honest, they'll tell you the same. Figure out how to do it yourself, be easy take your time and do it to suit you.

Chances are that in the long run, it would be better to fix up the Fairlane and sell the Passatt. My experience with my Passatt is that its not an overly reliable vehicle, and thats why my long range plan is to fix up my Belvedere wagon to replace the Passatt and let the Passatt go bye bye.

I agree. If it comes to a choice, keep the Fairlane and ditch the Passat. When it does start giving trouble (notice, when not if), the electrical system in the Passat is enough to break the bank! The parts aren't cheap, and the diagnosis procedure is killer. My Mom's 90 Volvo 240 eats almost $1,500 a year in repairs, mostly electrical, and she only drives 3 or 4 thousand miles a year. The Fairlane is dirt cheap to fix, and because of the Mustang, mechanical parts are EASY to get. Don't forget, you are essentially driving a station wagon Mustang, so there are a LOT of common parts.

I'll tell you from experience...if you're going to sell something like that, don't put another dime into it because that will be MORE money out of you pocket that you'll never get back. Now, my .02? DON'T DO IT! Keep that bad boy, throw some wheels on her, kids in the back, arm out the window:2_thumbs_up_-_anima yeah that's it.
