Checking in from SE Arizona

Hi guys, new member here. I have been on the hunt for a 1968-74 Ford Econoline SWB Cargo Van. My search led mew to a scrapper that has all kind of cars (no van) He has a 1965 Merc Wagon that i have uploaded to my album. He want the motor/trains (390/auto) for a 1951 Ford Project he has started. I doubt t I can talk him out of not pulling the motor, but that is ok.
I think I can get this very cheap and am seriously considering it.
Looks like a great group here and I already found another member with a 1966 as well.

Isn't it funny the left turns that you take when you've got a quest. That's what makes the trip interesting! Anyway, as to your Mercury find, depending on your 'cost of admission' you might find it cheaper all around to get a wagon that still has a engine in it, or better yet still runs. You're in Arizona - there out there.

Welcome! A 1965 Colony Park is a rare beast. It looks like this one could be brought back to life, if you've got the time and dedication. As Marshall mentions, it can sometimes be easier to start with one that is already running. You know more than anyone else what will make a good fit for you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

 

I agree with both of your posts, as I truly Want a 68-74 E-!00 SWB to restore.
I reached out to a member here who has a passion for these wagons.

I am loving the Plymouth, I had one back in HS, 2 inch blocks on the back & turned down the torsion bars up front. Long and low, dig it!

 

Thanks guy! Mine is on hydros with accumulators, tortions have been removed, rear leaf stack has been taken down to two leafs with a Tundra overload on top for extra stability when it's up. Love em low...the lower the better.

 

Just Passing Thru Glad you found the forum. Wagon, van, panel, or whatever, you are a car guy and you will fit in here.
I'd like to see you get that wagon and work on it, but through past experience, getting what you really want is important. You may always dream of the E-100.
But after looking at our wagons and reading some of the stories, you may get hooked on the wagon too.
So don't pass thru completely!

 

I think I will be following your build closely, as I am focused on a E-100 after alot of thinking today after all of your comments.
I can do a wagon, which I am fairly certain I will, as they rock
I have my work cut out for me AFTER FINDING the van.
1999 Crown Victoria or newer drivetrain with computer.
Modern Interior, nothing flashy, just clean inside.

2nd Gen Ford vans are not a easy project to drop, trust me. Hopefully I can get your input as this project becomes a reality.
What size tire/rim combo are you running? I have some 20 Foose Rim's I will be using. http://

I see you have a CrownVic. Maybe you can find a complete wreck donor car for your project.

 

That is the plan, these things run great & flat out get it. Have you ever been just driving down the road and all of the sudden five-0 is behind you, and you are like, where did he come from? It accelerates "rapidly" from about 30, until the passenger says "ok, I get it", lol.
I am the pace car on the freeway This was a County Sheriff's car & at 220K, I would not hesitate to roll across the country.
That is the plan, to buy one that is totaled with low miles and "upgrade" the motor/trans.
Now to find the van,
