I have aquired a 67 fairlane squire, it was on my great uncles farm in north Georgia , really nice shape for a car that set in a forrest of small trees for 35 years. Never owned a ford before, but this car really peaked my interest. This is a 289 automatic air steering car. being a restorer i,ve been around cars my whole life but can't seem to remember one of these. Also can't seem to find many people with parts. Nothing major , but things like quarter rubber ,tailgate rubber , molding brackets. Hopefully some of ya'll can help
to the wagon train, papa. The things you mention are very tough to find since we have found no company that makes after market rubber seals for the backs of wagons. Unless someone has found a source that I am unaware of. If you hang around with the wagon family here and have patience...many of our members frequent out of the way junk yards and find cars in good shape. You may score that way. Glad you found us.
Welcome papa. Good to see another stacked-headlight Ford. As others will attest to, you will probably find that parts for the "wagon" part of the car are next to impossible to find. Nobody makes much for that, so NOS parts on eBay may be your only avenue (and they can get expensive quick). If it helps, I believe that the 66-69 Fairlane, 66-69 Mercury Comet, and 66-70 Falcon shared the same basic wagon body. So many of the parts, like glass and weatherstripping should be the same. That may open up options in your search. I did check Mac's Antique Auto, and they have Falcon wagon weatherstripping, but unfortunately it's for the previous generation (60-65). I've found nearly the same results for my full-size Ford too. Good luck with your project. And please post some pictures, no matter the condition of the car.
Thanks for the replies about the wagon ,I knew it was going to be difficult. but hey thats part of the build fun. Hornets nest food lion auto fair starts tomorrow at charlotte motor speedway, maybe there while looking for customers parts, i'll post a couple pictures soon as i figure out how to navigate the sight. thanks again------ papa
papa caudell Good luck in your parts search. You may not think so right now, but that's part of the fun! Smashing fingers, toes, and other body parts is also exciting so be prepared to say words you normally only utter when in a wild dark smoke filled building. But when all finished those words like WOW and gee whizz my uncle had one just like that make it all worthwhile.
to the madness ! YouLL FIT IN HERE JUST FINE , Can't wait to see pics! WHATS THE PLANS FOR THAT WAGON PAPA .
