Where any car that old goes! To the junkyard. Especially station wagons, which were generally the kind of car that was not babied and saved the way a convertible might be but rather was just used until it was used up.

I'm sure you can find dozens of Chevy VIN decoders online if you just do a google search.

Here's just two I found in five seconds of searching:

    http://www.nastyz28.com/decode.php

    http://chevyresource.com/

An options list might be a bit harder to come by, but then, Chevy is the most popular brand of collector car, so even this is probably findable with a bit of google hunting.

I think that may be Biscaynes, Bel-Airs, Impalas, and Caprices combined. No idea how many of those were Caprices, but I would bet quite a few were the lower trim level cars.

Then you factor in that they were sold all over the USA and Canada mostly, and that does not leave many for any one particular area.

Nice wagon you got there. I like them. Had a friend who's parents bought one and it had bucket seats - I don't know if that was an option or if they had the dealership do it but they had that wagon for many years. We had a '66 hdtp with the 396 and auto, they had the exact duplicate only wagon. Hmmm, I wonder if that car is still around..............

I had a '67 Impala wagon, minty green, black interior, 3rd seat, A/C, auto-adjustable rear air shocks. It was a nice car till the driver's side frame rusted out and started dragging on the road. The full size cars in those years were prone to rusting out. I want to find a nice 63-'66 Impala/Belair wagon for a driver.

Check out "Collectable Automobile" magazine. They did a full feature article on that generation of full sized Chevrolets, and as part of the article they have productions numbers for the various models. It will also give you lots of information about options available, etc. Looks like you found a real winner there!

The "JAN" would be the Janesville Wisconsin assembly plant. The "06D" in the upper left corner would be the month and week of production. The car was assembled in the 4th week of June 1967 it appears. Maybe some other forum member can help you out. Nice car!

16645 seems to indicate a three seat Caprice station wagon with a 283. I didn't think you could even get a 283 in the Caprice, but I could be wrong.
