    Don't know why but i never noticed this before, I don't know what it is and what it's for? It's behind the grill.

    Does your car have a temp gauge for external temperature?

    It could possibly be the ray gun Ford was experimenting with back in the 70's. Certain models had it as an option where responsible owners(ones who wouldn't blast it all the time) could use it to clear away heavy traffic in times of emergency.

    Truthfully, I think it might be a outside air temp sensor for an auto climate system?

    Love it :2_thumbs_up_-_anima None of the above. I tried to follow the wire but it led to the wire harness all wrapped up. Put my wife in front of it and tried the ray but no go, still in the way, ( just kidding honey ) but i do use this for traffic clearing at times. still stumped.

    that looks like an air bag sensor lol make sure you dont have a hidden prehistoric one hiding in there lol

    I believe it is an external temperature sensor for the air conditioning system, as the compressor is not meant to engage if the out side temperature is below freezing. Both of my 78s (both with A/C, one with auto control) had/have it, and neither 79 (no a/c) did.

    Thanks every one, Temps are going below 32 tonight, i'll try the air and see if thats it or if it works.
