So, I was sitting at the phone office a few months back and a fella sat down next to me. He knows my siblings. He says to me "I hear you like wagons. My grandma wants to sell her 90 Mercury wagon, I'll send you some pictures." He sends me some pics and it looks okay. It's a 90 Colony Park, brown with wood. He tells me it's got high miles, 170,000 with a rebuilt trans. It took him weeks to get it pics to me. He says that his grandma wants 600. I said it was too much and I wouldn't give more than 400 with that kind of miles. I didn't hear from him again until last week. He says his grandma will take 400. Well, I went to go look at it today, and it was not what it looked like in the photos. The interior was mint, but the exterior was very rusty and the wood was faded on one side. Also, I was promised it was a good daily driver, the battery was dead and it had a broken brake line. I walked away empty handed. Sadly, it's going to scrap. If anybody needs one for that money, let me know. I just don't have the facilities for a project car at the moment.
It's the life of a wagon hunter, Colonys, why do I have a obsetion for Colony's. been there done that since my 80. I've even posted with pics of 2 that I went to look at , to just find a parts car if Iwas allwready driving one. Your one up on me man, you have a Colony!....Oh how I wish I still had my 80 Have you thought about a low ball offer so you have a parts car?
I would give him like 250 bucks for it, maybe. My ma and pa say not to take it at all and I'd have to keep it here.
It's worth more than $250 for scrap. But since you are at home you have to be careful....You could end up living in it in a Wal-Mart parking lot!
I have my own place, but there's only so much room for cars there, and I've got one wagon and a truck there, and then one wagon at Mom and Dad's. I'm just bummed that the deal didn't work out. I hate to see a wagon going to the scrap yard.
Pass the word. If it's a driver maybe someone will buy it for daily transportation. Be nice for Xavier till he can find a nicer one if it is a decent driver.
Exactly why I shared this. They said it runs, but the battery was dead. She told me she drove it daily until a couple months ago. Needs a battery and a brake line and it's good to go mechanically.
Too bad it is on the wrong side of the border, otherwise I would be very interested. I need a daily driver wagon like that, and the Colony Parks are a favorite of mine. Doesn't sound like it needs all that much. Is there any way you can post pictures? If the body is solid enough, I'd love to try to get it here and on the road again, even if Dark Cordovan Metallic Clearcoat isn't my very favorite colour for them.
It's solid enough to be a driver. It needs a battery and a brakeline to be on the road. I just don't feel like dinking with it. These are the pics he sent me. The interior is very good. The body leaves much to be desired, but would be a good beater.
It's rougher than it looks in the pics, minus the interior, that's pretty good. I have to keep it at my parents' house, since my driveway is full, and their house is for sale. I would have started a huge fight over a car I don't need.
