In the 91-96 GM wagons (Caprice, Roadmaster) do they tend to have trouble with the lower trim along both sides? I've noticed (in pictures) that some have what appears to be a rubber or black piece in the middle of the trim and many have some of that missing. Someone familiar with these wagons help me out. I've never seen one of these up close so don't know how it should be. Thanks.

All the GM wagons have "issues" with belt line trim. On Chevy's the chrome dis-colors and "de-laminates", that needs to be replaced to fix properly. Some remove it all together. The Buicks have a thick black rubber/plastic trim that is taped to the chrome belt line trim and it falls off as the years go by. Fixing the Buick's trim is done a few different ways, one way is just re-glue or re-tape the trim, another is to remove it completely and clean all the residue off the polished pieces it attaches to. You could also strip all the factory stuff off and redo it all with 1 3/8" after market trim, or vinyl tape.

How it looks with the black trim removed On Ian's Tiki wagon.

The white Roady below Ian's is how it looks from the factory.

Oh....I get it now....the Roady disappearing rubber. :D
The Cappy does not have that trim line. It has the chrome line as seen here from the factory....

The black trim mounted to the stainless beltline trim on the Roadmasters is an issue with almost all these cars. It comes loose, sags, or totally falls off.

When I bought my '96 Roady two or three of the pieces were in the cargo area, and others were sagging. I cleaned the stainless and the mounting area on the black trim and used grey 3M mounting tape, sold at most parts stores, to put it all back on.

Going on three years now with no issues, including 2011, the hottest summer on record for us here in Austin. :thumbs2:

Yup....you want to mount something on a car....the 3M grey tape will do it.:thumbs2:
Just make sure you get it where you want it before touching it to the car.

I will also vouch for the 3M tape. Most of the mounting clips were bad or missing when we did the 63 Ranchero. Used it for the trim on that as well.
