I found a mid 70's Maverick, all original with 56K on it. 250 six Asking just over $1000 for it. I hope its still available when I get home, I am gonna beg, steal and borrow to try to get my hands on it. Say a prayer to the car gods with me that I can get a chance to own this fine survivor. She will stay all original, with an exception to the rotten white wall tires. I would like to clean her up and do the local shows with my cousin and his '72 and '75 Chevelle's. If anyone happens across this car online, please do not post up where it is located, I hate to have someone from her or elsewhere come buy it out from under me because they found out about it in my post. We have gone through that already.
As for somebody here taking it from you I doubt that that is anything to worry about with the regulars. However, if I find the listing I will not share it with a soul. My the car gods be with you and allow this machine to come to your caring hands, Amen. Good luck, Scott.
Thanks brother X Its not the reg's I am worried about, its the lurkers and guests. We all saw the Torino that was stolen out from under one of of our brothers by another member. He found it though the post that our brother put up and even stated it was the 2nd he found through here. I don't want history to repeat itself, I don't know if I can be as forgiving as he was. I NEED wheels and this one is in nice shape and near to my budget. Hate to be forced to settle for a beater with a heater for the same money I can get this one for.
I understand completely, bro. I hate the whole lurker is actually a spy/thief situations. When ever I have gone to another site/forum for whatever reason I always feel like I am intruding. So I leave quickly. I pray this car's secret location stays a secret to all but you.
HAHA, I was worried about you Foxie. Incase this one falls through, I also found this one too. Less money, V8, probably a 260, swivel buckets with floor shift. The buckets are shot, but my cousin has a like new set of white ones and a matching white rear seat I can swap in.
Personally I like the second one better. I don't know exactly why but I do... Either way I hope that you can get one.
Yup it could very well be a 350, the 350 was the most popular motor in these. It is a '77 so it could even have the optional 403 or the standard 260, but it is listed with a V8 so its not the dreaded PUKE 3.8 that was only shoved in the '77's. Three buddies in school had A-Body Cutlass's. One was a '75 with a 250 six and a 4 speed, one was a '75 with a 455 and the other was a '77 with a 260. I had a rusted out '75 Monte Carlo winter beater with a 400 4bbl and would stomp the ass off that 455, anytime, anywhere. That motor ended up being rebuilt into a 2.02 headed 406 with 10.1 compression and stuffed in my drop dead sexy silver on red '77 Monza Spider 4 speed. That happened to be stolen from the Dipson Cinema 6 in Lakewood NY, October 2nd 1991, when I took Brenda, one half of the local legendary hot as the fires of hell Baldwin twins, on a date. They found the car 4 years later, in a abandoned warehouse 2 miles from the theater, stripped to the shell, beat into a crumpled wad of steel and covered in an inch of dust. It was one of the most depressing days of my life, save when it was stolen.
