I wish I had a time machine, so I could go back and live where I belong! However, I'd miss you all too much, that's for sure!

I just read this whole thread and... When I changed the oil on my KIA I was doing so on years old memory. My arm got bathed in hot engine oil and about a quart went into the grass... I wasn't drinking beer at the time... I think it was gin... But I earned my merits with the cussing and the loss of skin... Just between you [all] annd me. When a job on the car goes smoother than expected I always smear some grease in random places, light a smoke and drink some coffee for a minute. I always have an alcoholic drink and a coffee with me when I work on a car. Tradition. Anyways, after smoking half my cigarette I go inside to give an update or "blow off some steam" and Zoe, always impressed with my ever growing knowledge and experience with mechanical things is always happy to here how ts going... Although, sometimes I just go in to get more to drink... ... Now when it comes to beer I tend to be picky in the sense of I will drink any free deer, but I am like Scott. Although my favorite beer is Old Rasputin. 9% alcohol and very, very, very dark beer, indeed... Walmart?! WALMART!!! those bass turds don't come near my car. All it took was one horror story about them forgetting to reapply the oil cap and that was it for me... No Walmart!!! I hate the money grubbing, elderly taking advantage of, lets make America fatter and stupider, one stop flop sweat joke store that has become and insult to Sam Walton's dream... Sorry.

I would always change my own oil. Whether it be Walmart or any quick lube place, I've heard plenty of stories. Like my mom's boss who lost an engine in her Mercedes because they didn't tighten the filler plug. I've seen the people who work there and one of them I recognized as one of my classmates who dropped out. No thanks.

My friend would usually have his dad change his oil. But once in awhile he would go to the quick lube place for a laugh. He had an 87 Calais with the 4-tech engine. There would be a guy on top and a guy below, both swearing up a storm trying to figure out how to get the filter out. It was really almost easier to remove the right front wheel. 1 or 2 model years later GM relocated the filter to the bottom of the oil pan for that reason.
