Looks photoshopped to me. But, if it is a prelim pic of a real project, I am very interested in watching the process. Was thinking about the same thing for my wagon. But... the darned think would crumple in a crash much worse than a Scion box with airbags soooo... I think decals and appliqués will have to suffice for the '58 Surf Rod.
Yep, digital magic. look closely at the 'liquid' look of those door handles and how they are actually copies of one another. the detail close up is very revealing of it even the wheel opening against the shaded area of the whitewall has a rendered quality to it. Having said that, it is a very well rendered concept and would be very cool to see carried through to completion. I had done a version to the PT called the T&C Cruiser using the same styling Chrysler used on the iconic 46-48 Town & Countries, Some time I'll need to share it with all but it needs finishing work. Nice post!
Saw the title of the thread...... I was wondering this exact subject just the other day. Would it be possible to have 'woodies' make a comeback - actually being manufactured by Detroit / Japan, et al? The materials are there - that's no problem. The vehicles? Actually I don't see too many right now that would lend themselves to being 'woodied' - The Ford Flex, for sure (personally, I think a 'Country Squire' Flex would be a big hit...) - Maybe the Ford Edge? - Sales of the larger SUV's are a bit soft. Would a wood trim package excite the buying public? - Subaru Forester - a good candidate - Buick Enclave - I don't know about that one. It's such a beautiful vehicle already, I'm not sure adding wood would be an improvement. The big thing here is the public's perception of a modern 'woodie'. Will it sell? They would at least have to do some market research to see if it would make sense from a sales standpoint.
Just stumbled onto this. Don't know if it's been posted before: Here's the link to the article the pic's from: http://jalopnik.com/5040502/metro-detroit-dealer-sports-ford-flex-woody?tag=ford-flex
loose the front fender trim and your gold on the flex. cant find it but i got a pic somwhere of an Element that a local honda dealer thought would be nice to do with wood.....fail!
