Well, after all the crap with the engine builder in Fontana, California, I am progressing with my 1955 Dodge Coronet Suburban 2 door station wagon. I have the Art Morrison "Pro Touring" chassis set up to take the body, I am putting the engine back together (something I should have done in the first place) and have a crank-up date of May 1ST. I hope nothing else sneaks into my little project here. I can't wait to hear it run and drive it. It has power rack and pinion steering, 2 full turns, lock to lock, a 4.11:1 rear gears, a Tremec Magnum 700 6 speed manual, 6TH gear is .5:1 making the car think it has a 2.05:1 gear. So I can cruise on the freeway at 2,000 RPMs at 70 MPH. I have so much money in this project that the paint, A/C, and the 18" wheels will have to wait. I will have to leave the gray epoxy primer on it for at least a year while I replenish my savings account. But this is my last hurrah. And I want it to be right. So ihave basically spared no expense so far. When it does get paint, I want to put the original colors, Heather rose and Sapphire White, back on. Then the A/C will come from Classic Air, And finally the 18" wheels. Right now I have Halibrands, 17X6 and 17X9, Sprint wheels. I want to go to Rocket 5 spoke 18X8 and 18X12 wheels. Those three items will burn another 10-12K out of my savings.

I doubt I will have it on the road by March. But seeing as how it is only an hour north of me, I will be there. Me and my little ole Rumble Bee pickemup truck. What a pity Dodge doesn't offer manual transmissions on anything but Challengers, diesel trucks, and the Viper engined trucks and Vipers themselves. As a side note, we almost put a 650HP Viper engine in the station wagon. But I wanted a more period engine. That's why I became involved in the 1957 Chrysler Hemi. It actually came out of a 300C car that had a three speed manual transmission. They apparently didn't make whole lot of those with the 3 speeds. And most were set up for factory racing teams. Although I don't believe mine was. The car apparently spent it 's entire life Missouri. The car just rusted away from the engine and drive train. All this info came from the guy that built the engine for me. And we know how reliable he is. But, for some reason I think he was telling me the truth about the engine's history. But.............aw heck, who knows??? But I will be in Ocala for the Mopar Show in March.
