Hey guys! thanks for the welcome. Ive decided Ill just post a video up on moday the 16th. I have a youtube account and Itll be posted there. when it is posted I will let you guys know the details. Jaunty... the reason I posted my intro at 430 am is because I work nights as an armed guard at a bank. 10pm-6am Fannie... my wife (veterinary technician) and I have 4 dogs (and 2 cats). although they are all small. And Ive always told my wife Ive wanted a nice classic wagon to cruise with her and the mutts with! my youtube account shows some of the dogs and our cats! stay tuned! Im still contemplating what I want to do with the wagon, but the original owner said with almost a tear in his eye he would love to keep in touch with me and see the car good as new again, so im leaning towards restoring the car (at an ametuer level) to its original brown and tan two tone state. but some upgraded suspension components might be thrown in as well. Ive told my wife that unlike my other disaster project that went horribly wrong (another story for another post), this classic will be patiently and carefully taken care of and is here to stay in our family for a long time!
So I'm an idiot and forgot my camera at my friends house, so I won't be able to post a video right away, but I took some pictures on my blackberry that ill try to upload. Sorry for gettin yalls hopes up!
Not knowing you, but from what you wrote I would have to agree you are an idiot. But since you are a new old wagon owner and joined this forum I know you are not an idiot! That is unless you don't get some photos up real soon! You are on thin ice right now!
Man you are killing us forgetting the camara...but hey I wouldn't buy a ugly old '83 caprice wagon anyway Send it to me and I can properly dispose of it for you.
1Tire... after seeing what you can do with your Caprice, Its more incentive for me NOT to give it up!! your car is gorgeous! I on ther other hand have alot to work on...
There is still something to be said for one-owner cars. I purchased my Colony Park from the 85 year old original owner about 3 months ago. He spent a fortune maintaining it over the last 27 years. I did not think I would ever consider buying a car with 171,000 miles on it, but after seeing the condition and service records, I felt it was worth 2 grand. Good luck with your new Caprice!!!
I would rather buy an old car with rust and original paint than one with new paint, or even old body work. At least you know what you've got to work with. Lousy body work can hide a multitude of sins. Congratulations on the wagon, and what good job to save it from the derby. My guess is the man you bought her from asked about your plans before he sold her to you, to make sure she went to someone who cared for the old girl.
