Greetings, A new purchase was just delivered today. It is a 1963 Mercury Meteor Country Cruiser eight passenger station wagon (71F). There were 1485 of these made and 740 were eight passenger models. The previous owner has painted it white, but I would like to return it to the original red exterior and also, put the wood grain stencils on the sides. The upholstery is quite nice and and I haven't found a speck of rust anywhere as yet. I have attached some pictures and I hope they come through. Here is a link to photos as well: http://flic.kr/ps/26YE6x Take care
Welcome to the crazy house. Your Merc looks absolutely spotless. I agree; get the wood back on there. From the pictures, it looks like a nice paint job, even if it's not the original color.l We have a member doing an incredible restoration job on a '64.
Member since 2009 and only two posts??? Didn't anyone tell you that you didn't have to wait until you got a beautiful wagon to join in the fun??? Pretty car!
Looks to be in great shape! I'd go with the wood siding, but I kinda like the white/red interior. Plus, I'd be ready to put some miles on that thing.
What a great find. Rare top of the Meteor wagon, and the Meteor was a one year only wagon model. I want to see alot of pictures once you get the wood grain back on it. I like the white with red interior combo myself, but I know the original red with red interior would be a real stand out at any show. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
Real nice wagon. love the rare stuff. So I guess the side trim is there. Only the woodgrain inserts are missing? If not, you'd never find those trim pieces. I'd enjoy the wagon the way it is till you get a few marks on the white then redo it. Don't wait another two years to post again! Some of us don't have that much time left to waste. PS We need pictures of the wagon now!Love the interior.
Great wagon! Welcome............ If somebody had shown me a picture of your wagon and asked me to name it, I'd have bet good money it was a Mercury Meteor Villager. I had no idea that Mercury called it the 'Country Cruiser'........ - I actually had to check my sources to confirm it. Thought for sure you were wrong........ LOL!
I thought the same thing KK. Had never heard of a Country Cruiser though Mercury did like the Cruiser name. Remember the Turnpike Cruiser?
Loved the Turnpike Cruiser. While in high school friend's brother had a 1957 Turnpike Cruiser convertable with continental kit on back. Must have been a half block long!
