Well, work is slacking off a bit and I am able to start work on the Safari again.. Have a 69 350 olds built to replace the 307 Olds, warmed it up just a little, Edelbrock intake, 500 Edelbrock carb and headers, put in a mileage cam in hopes of uping the fuel economy a bit..... also hoping the 350 will carry the big wagon a bit easier than the 307 did........ In the process of removing the woodgrain now, gonna paint it Cobalt blue.... Good to be back:jumping:

The Edelbrock carbs tend to suck gas worse than the Q jets. I think they are easier to use but from my experience and what others have said mileage goes down with them.

Highjacking the thread----------The 600 Edelbrock in my 55 Chevy with 305 died again. Dirt, water, age............. Big valve heads, Duntov cam. HEI, Block hugger headers. I don't care about fast, what's the best economy carb for fuel milage? Keep it a four barrel. I still like the cool factor! Fatnsolo have fun back here playin with us wagon fanatics. ;)

I have an old Holley economizer (450 CFM I think) that needs a kit... I ran it on a 330 olds tears ago. Did pretty good on the mileage but performance sucked.... Thought I might try it again.......

 Thanks. My son like the cheap Hollys. That's what's on the wagon right now. Maybe I will try the Edelbrock 500 with electric choke. Even in Florida I like using choke. The 500 with 305 should be a good choice. I've used the 600 for years on everything. No modern fuel injection for my old cars. Fuel milage is important but so is simplicity. (y)
