So I'm just wondering, around this little planet of ours, do any of you folks in other parts, have Christmas light exchanges? Here, Nova Scotia Power sponsors a light exchange. For example last night was our town tree lighting and carol sing along with a surprise visit from Santa, hot choc., eggnog, cider, etc. and a light exchange. They set up a booth, you bring in two sets of your old lights, they give you one set of new LED lights. So does anyone else have something similar? Now I just have to find time to put them up...maybe I should get off this thing?
Here in the USofA we get our Christmas lites at stores ... they are called WalMarts (unless one is being built in your neighborhood , then its called a MallWart) exchanges are what we call the stores on the military bases (where the HumVees park!) .... dont we all (40%Canuck 40%Yank20%Other) like it when a thread goes "full circle"? .... keeps it from getting all sticky. But back to the christmas lights (Yes, I did regress) .... they are made in China you know? So if your town trades in Chinese lighting then would the people of WalMart that work the cash register, ringing up these forgiegn lights be called chinese checkers??.... I will shut up now! .... or not .... I have a question .... Does it bother our neighbors to the North that , say a guy like Cat, can sit wa-ay down on the tip of the USofA in Florida and drink canada dry? .... Sorta reminds an intelligent person of all that oil well farcting that is going on up there, dont it? .... speaking of donuts ..... I think I will shut up now!
Canadians are better at hockey,.. Fanny can i send you all the boxes of old christmas lights we have?? Nick
QUESTION: Did the term "thunder thighs" originate in Canada?? .... and is Tyvek barns considered to be a adequate form of housing?
Just found this thread as I haven't been able to come on in a few days. Hate it when work keeps me from doing the more important things! Fannie, your military vehicles look like they mean business. Yikes, kind of makes our Humvees look like Yugos!! I am eternally grateful to our northern neighbors for being the geniuses who came up with the formula for Canadian Club. That is absolutely my favorite whisky and, quite frankly, probably drink way too much of it. Another fine example of our two countries working so well together is my "usual" cocktail, (just ask any bartender in my tri county area and he/she will confirm), the Canadian Club Manhattan. Rumor has it St Peter has one of them waiting for you upon your arrival at the Pearly Gates. Not real sure what the other guy has at his entrance, but I'm sure it's a hot something or other!!
I love bacon and eggs. There used to be a restaurant around my work that served it all day. Sometimes for lunch I would go there and have bacon and eggs for lunch!
Me too! Wimpy's, the 50's diner up the street from my office serves breakfast all day. Needless to say the waitresses there all know me on sight now.
