Lemme guess, Cardone part # 27-6542?
I have changed this twice now on Dodge of mine and still have a loosey goosey box, must be 30* of play in it. It seems to be thrust bearings in the box as the shaft moves in and out along with the play.
"Rebuilt" consists of fresh seals and a paint job.
I haven't decided on a replacement yet. The seller offers a lifetime warranty but guess who eats labor.
    Crap product for sure:mad:.
Let me know if you find something good, I'll do same.

all the re-builders say they are the best and the box will work like a new original!
I did read a lot of reviews on the web and they are for 50% no good!
A1cardone has about 90% bad reviews!
Don't know jet what to do.

Weren't they a Bendix unit? If so, you might find an industrial supplier with the parts. Mopar made a lot of industrial vehicles, including forklifts back in the day. If you could get a breakdown of the parts and part numbers...

Don't you mean Red-Head? I've heard of them, nothing bad.
I checked out Steer and Gear too and both of those outfits look good to me, seem to know their stuff and are familiar with Mopar which is important.
I'd go for the firmer feel modification on yours if you send it in to be rebuilt or a faster ratio box if you want less wandering and more road feel, less turns lock to lock with the faster ratio makes the car a lot more responsive.
You have to be careful you don't oversteer when you first install them.
I put a quick ratio box in my GTO and was testing it out, hit the gas and turned the wheel to pass a guy on the freeway and almost ended up in the median.
It makes all the difference in the world, it's like a different car, those worn out wandering boxes with no road feel to begin with will wear you out and make you hate the car for fighting you all the time.

I bought a new AGR box from Summit Racing for my former Vista Cruiser, AGR doesn't do Mopar though. The one in the GTO I got from Ames Performance and it was a rebuilt quick ratio unit, they only sell Pontiac parts.:(
The only rebuilt ones in stock anywhere are the Cardone units it seems, must not be a real lot of demand, tons of places do GM.
If you can buy a rebuilt box outright it may be a lot cheaper than shipping yours here to be done, depends on the shipping cost, core charge if any.
Could find a used one here and have it shipped right to the rebuilder.

There is a lash adjustment. The thrust is done with a collar at the steering shaft in put.
I looked into this a while back and had difficulty finding any info and abandoned the effort. My car(van) is seldom used so gets little priority.
Any help is welcome, I have no dilusion that another box from this re-man house will be any better.
