    My sister-in-law gave me an early Christmas present... It's got a cool article (a few really) but I'm not sure how I can scan them in without breaking the binding and having it fall apart. I'd love to share it with everyone, but am not sure how.

    Suggestions?

    Fantastic present. I wouldn't risk damaging it to scan but, it is your magazine.

    Probably not as good as scans but perhaps you can just take a photo of the pages & crop.

    Great gift, teej!

    I remember as a teenager (this would have been about '64 - '66) going to local libraries and thumbing through all their old Popular Mechanics and Popular Science magazines from the 50's. Found a lot of neat stuff. Don't remember those 2 particular ones, though...

    I have had luck doing the "snap and crop" method ... make sure you do it in high res and then AFTER its cropped resize the resolution to fit this forum .... thanking you in advance!

    Cool site... But what's funny is in the issue I posted (Feb 57) I wanted to put up a picture of the 'baby hammock' they have on page 145. On that site though, pages 145 and 146 are missing.

    Amazing coincidence.
    I have been going through box after box of stuff in my garage, just cleaning out old junk. I found my box of old Pop Mechanics mags I scored a decade ago from some neighbors who were having a yard sale.

    I was just looking through them, and I have that exact same issue.

    They are amazing! Congrats man, I know how you feel holding it in your hands.:thumbs2:

    Check out the spec comparison on page 180. All the vital specifications fit to print in order of importance: Engine Size, Horsepower, Weight, Pounds per HP, interior room and price. 'Nuff said.

    Who gave a rat's behind about mileage? :rofl: Those were the days.:cheers:

    When I was going to Georgia Tech in the early 80's, a group of friends and I came across bound issues of Motor Trend from the 60's and 70's with the other periodicals in the library. We'd sit up there on 4th or 5th floor of the library reading the articles on all the old muscle cars. I still remember being incredulous at the 0-60 time for the 64 or 65 Catalina 2+2 with a 421 Super Duty. 3.8 seconds for that barge! It was only in recent years that I learned that Pontiac was fudging by providing the magazines and reviewer with specially prepped ringers.
