Nope..."cherry wagon" So glad that you have the initiative to choose something outside the usual box for your first car! Your excitment is obvious...congratulations...awesome looking car! Thanks for sharing.
well shes got a bitchy electic system.blowin fuses left and right. but shes amazing for a first prize. I would eventually like to drop a 302 sleeper in it. but not until she spits this 289 out. its slippin here and there but still pulling tough for being 44 years old.i think its the clutch. besides not being able to find a fuel tank or windshield in the entire u.s canada or mexico shes a steal. the interior is excellent besides driver wear on the seat. but it only had one owner so...any ideas of what i can do to maker sing??? im up here in Pueblo,CO
Let me say welcome and repeat... what a lot of others suggest for a new owner. 1. Find a Ford Shop Manual for that year. Best thing you can do. Takes a lot of the mystery out of it. It should have a wiring diagram. These old Fords have pretty simple wiring but the fuses like to hide (yours is probably new enough to have a fuse block - my old Ford has inline fuses in really odd locations). You can use that to trace wiring circuits. Frequently old wiring has rubbedagainst metal somewhere and worn through the insulation causing a short. 2. Don't be afraid to ask these guys (and gals) even the stupidest-sounding question. They don't bite (for the most part) and there is a LOT of good knowledge here. 3. Fuel tanks can be repaired if they're not too rusty. 4. Can't find a windshield? Sounds like a challenge, guys. Let's track one down - closest one to CO is the winner...
nice to see more young blood replacing us old timers. That's how we keep these hobbys alive. Out of our four kids only the youngest, 22, is a car guy. Takes a special breed. Nice wagon!
