MINUS $$$ Emergency septic pump out... = $368.00 More emergency pluming work... = $282.00 Griffin freeked out by the comotion... mop floor a few times, cleaner, paper towels, throw out good towels, throw out area rug in living room.... = $$$ Griffin calmed down and comforted with doggie cookies and lap dog treatment after all was done = priceless x100 saved house from sh** everywhere = priceless x2 Oh.... and I will be needing a new shop vac asap as mine now is going in the trash!!...but I saved the house AND now it's raining and I have a masive pile of dirt to re-fill the septic hole. WTF would anyone put the tank lid almost 4 feet down??? See Ya........
It's all part of Mr. Murphy's Law. 1. Really unpleasant jobs only occur at the most inoportune time. 2. Septic covers are always 4' down when you have a septic problem. 3. When it's time to deal with dirt it always rains. Mud is heavier than dirt. I'm glad it happened while you were home or you may not have been able to avert disaster. Apparently Mr. Murphy was not paying attention this time.
Thanks tbirbps.... ya made a good point, If I was not at home........... wet, soaked, p***** off, gona have a shower....at least I can now.
Codes usually only allow them to be 3 feet down max? Why not put a precast or plastic riser on it with a lid? That's usually what's done when they're that deep and then you won't have to fill the hole, just backfill the riser, leave the lid a few inches down if you want grass over it. Just have a metal ring on the lid so you can find it with a metal detector if the exact spot is forgotten, most of the septic guys carry a little detector or divining rods in the truck. With the divining rods you can find the buried pipe and the septic tank with no metal anywhere. I've done it and believe it or not they work good.
Actually brass welding rods are the norm ... coat hangers in a pinch. I've been doing it for years, works for water pipes and coins
Sounds like Griffin is adjusting to your home OK...when poop hits the fan(so to speak) everyone does his part...
