Wagonman, your winter sounds alot like ours. Except I usually take my winter tires off around the end of April. My brithday is the end of April so I take the day off work and enjoy a spa day...well actually my Jimmy has the spa day. Assuming the weather is good, after having the tires changed, Allover gets a bubble bath and a good waxing, including the chrome rims and tires. Then the interior gets a good detailing...mmm shiny...is it spring yet?
Well, today starts No-Shave November. Everyone around here follows the tradition that we don't shave our faces the entire month, some don't all winter. I shaved my goatee off and my big sideburns and am baby-faced for the first time since High School lol. All part of good ol' winter tradition!
I know, I know. It absolutely looks like a mugshot! I thought the same thing when I took the picture.
AC, what's that? In all my vehicles but the Celebrity, it doesn't work and I don't care. And I don't use it in the Celebrity. There's only usually about 1 week of the summer where it gets hot enough to think about wanting AC and that's usually only the 2nd half of the day, once the sun goes down it almost always cools off, and sometimes wake up in the morning shivering. I have a working window unit I picked up off the side of the road for free about 12 years ago, but for me, it's not even worth the effort to install it for as little as it would get used. I enjoy the very short summer while it lasts, and hope it lasts and try to get things done (even though there's never enough time to do everything I want). Because before I know it, it is mid August then it starts getting colder with off and on wind and rain storms. Sometimes we do get a small shot of "indian summer" (clear dry skies) in the fall which is nice, and enjoy that while it lasts too. We have tons of fancy vacation houses around here that are occupied for 3 months out of the year, the rest of the year they live in Florida. Labor day is a mass exodus south on the highways. Some of the towns all but shut down for the winter. Some parts of town get barricaded and remain unplowed. Some downtown shop owners put up freezer paper in the windows and go south too. Nice place to visit but the climate is better elsewhere for most. The wealthy retirees who can afford to live anywhere they want, choose to not be here most of the year. Despite a nationwide recession, we were the only state in the USA to have an overall loss in population over the last 10 years. I figure at least we don't get earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, large tornadoes, and it's kinda hard to get a drought with all the water around. So it's better than most places in that respect.
Haha, it does look a bit like a mugshot. I don't think my face has looked like that since high school either. I just buzz mine with dog clippers, let it grow for a couple months, buzz again, etc.
When I met my wife back in 06 I kept my face smooth for my wife who didn't like the way it looked on me... However, as time has gone by and I have gotten a little older she now likes it when I "forget" to shave and I get what she calls the rugged look. Which isn't hard since I come from a line of very hairy faced men... almost wolfman like facial hair... But I am sure that I won't be shaving again any time soon... or at least not until after her birthday...
Right. As much as the cold and snow sucks at least I don't have to worry about my house blowing away or the ground opening up beneath it.
AHHHH...look at those checks...could just squeeze'em...good thing your not here! Did you shave off your face fur for "Movember?" Do you have this fund raiser there? http://ca.movember.com/about/ It's fairly new here and seems to be gaining alot of momentum. Anyone else here particapating, wasn't there a few last year?
Nevr even heard of it..?? I'll do it again when/if my daughter does it for cancer again, but come to think my shagy face and hair (when my daughter did it for cancer) would be warm for the winter We had our first frost today, I flashed up my honey's new ride and old ride for me to, go to work......played with the dogs.... Turned of honeys ride as it was defrosted.....went back into house for another cup of coffee to wait for the van to defog, to figure out the 'high" on the heater switch doesn't work anymore, just low.....gona be a chilly winter driving to work
I shaved my face for No-Shave November, a good old Deer Hunting tradition around here. If only I could grow a decent moustache...
I had a beard for twenty years .... sorta weird how folks treat a person different depending on face hair. .... but I will NEVER shave off my mousache .... lots of good food hidden in there.!! lol
Lets see winter in Southern Arizona...its supposed to dip down into the low 70s this weekend! Chilly! This is the first winter me owning the Vista Cruiser, so I'll be doing a tune up to the heating/cooling system. But seeing its undercoated I can drive it all winter and not have to worry :2_thumbs_up_-_anima (Original owner was from New York state and what ever car he bought new was undercoated cause he didn't want them to rot out!) It does get cold here, but not the cold that you guys face everywhere else. We bundle up for about a month then after that its just long sleeve/light sweater weather. Oh and for No Shave November, I'll be growing back my side burns. My face has been naked for a few months!
