    I don't get under a vehicle that's sitting on a jack. That's stupid.

I'll use the bumper jack because it works. I don't want to carry around another 40-50lb jack in my trunk that doesn't fit and will roll or slide around. The bumper jack has a place. It fits right under the spare just right. The base is used to hold the spare tire down. It all works together. It's designed that way. I hate scissor jacks, bottle jacks don't fit under a car with a flat tire half the time, and big floor jacks are meant for the garage. If I'm stranded on the road with a problem and I need under the car, I have AAA to tow me to somewhere with a lift, or home so I can use my own floor jack and jackstands.

I'm gonna stand in line with Blue...floor jack with case, some short 2x lumber pieces, a jack stand. At age 16, received my driver's license in 1958. Had soooooo many years experience with bumper jacks, in a variety of situations. They were useful for many things, but least of all for a human to jack up vehicles - so unsafe. My advice...do it your way! Just like we all did then, and do now. Egads...what?...I didn't give away my age did I? I forget now, but...what was the question?

I NEVER get under a car that is resting on a jack of any kind. That's just an accident waiting to happen and has maimed/killed many people.

I will only use a bumper jack in an emergency situation on the road, and I agree with all the cautions and recommendations of the wise posters above!

Haven't used a bumper jack in probably 30 years or more...

Always was horrified with the way the bumper was distorted on the brackets when it had the full weight of the car on it. Seem to remember one or two where the bumper remained tweaked after coming off the jack.

well i used my bumper jack that i had for a while but i cut the post by about 2/3's of its original length i t was a trans am jack had this nice hinged hook on it that conformed to my s-10 bumper real well. but i never tried to use it to lift the truck just raise it up enough for my 20 ton floor jack to be able to fit under to actually lift the truck. but as a younger adult i also thought it was a great idea to have a truck so low that it would scrape on a cig but... never to low:thumbs2:

Late model vehicles have bumpers??? :slap:
-------:naughty: Late model cars are new cars!!!!! Now I'm confused! To answer the questions, yes, those cheap flimsy plastic purty things are bumpers. Don't you feel safe knowing those bumpers will smash and save your life if you are moving very slowly and crash? Of course knowing it is gonna cost $1000 to replace $10 worth of plastic might kill you!---------At least Tedy had a decent answer!!!!!!!!
