Friday update with pics yeah! Well I was surprised by the interior guy with my 2 seats all redone, that only took a week and 475 bucks, I am very happy, next I have to cut out the door panels and give them to him and design our own pattern. As far as progress today I got some of the switches in, lights ignition, lighter etc. I also got some of the dash pieces back from the chromer. I started to apply the semi gloss black to the center of the chrome pieces on the dash. I also re assembled the dash cluster (I painted that a while ago) I also had to relocate my trans cooler lines after I took so much time to make em look pretty (The battery tray eneded up being in the way) Thats what happens when you modify to later model stuf, I put in a 68 Mustang tray cuz it holds the battery better, lol. You can see in the pics how I put in a rubber plug that I will cut out for the lines next week, and I will plug the 2 holes I drilled a few weeks ago, lol. I also helped with the other shop project, a 1969 Mustang SCJ, we are cleaning and finishing an unfinished project the shop owner bought from someone who lost interest, I will post pics next week. I cant remember what else and I have to leave to get some grub so enjoy the pics Oak Front Seat Back Seat gauge cluster Switches new plug for trans lines Chrome dash pieces one painted one not
Just sat here & read this whole thing. That's one suhweeeet wagon & a FORD too (okay, Mercury, still was a part of FoMoCo before they killed it).
Sup? Hey old ford man, where are you in St Charles County? I was born and raised in St Charles, Lived in Portage De Sioux as a kid then St Charles then St peters before moving to Cali for work. Ryan
Wow, thats going to be a really nice wagon, better than factory. I found it the other day, my '64 comet wagon gas cap! hiding in a box in the attic! I knew i had one from years ago. Now i need a car to go with it. They are hard to find on the west coast.
Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrare Hard to find is putting it mildly, I have seen 2 for sale since i started looking 3 years ago, there is a story on the web about paying 225 back in the day, I would say 500 bucks would be cheap today,. lets see a pic of your wagon???
Hey Ryan, It's the 64 comet wagon i don't have, just have the gas cap. The wagons are hard to find here. I'd like to have one in the So. Cal. area and not loaded with rust. One will turn up someday.
Blacksnake, I would also agree with you on your comet wagon about the scarcity of these wagons. Try finding stuff for my '65 falcon 2 door wagon. The 2 door stuff is even harder to find then the 4 dr stuff (even though most of it is compatible and the same). I paid around $200 for my falcon/ranchero gas cap when I bought it off of ebay (same style that matches the contours of the body lines)
Friday update, couple pics Well not a lot done today, but I was there all day!! I picked up the trim from the polisher WOW WOW WOW, 38 pieces for 525, what a deal, I will post a few pics. While at home last weekend I cut out the new door panels from the old warped ones, I fit the 2 fronts today and needless to say I had a bit of trimming to do, I l also got one of the rears trimmed up, the rears were harder to make because the old panels were destroyed! I also finally moved the trans cooler lines in through their new hole..........................and the stupid HI horn was now in the way, lol but I made it work. We also dropped in a new motor into one of the customer mustangs (65 FB), it is a 331 small block running AFR heads and a 750 Holley built out to an 830, it should be a runner!!! Just a few pics of the trim to enjoy, the pics dont do justice. If anyone is interested the polishing shop is in Riverside CA if you want more info let me know Enjoy Ryan
Friday, pics but not of wagon, lol Well I actually got a lot done today but no pics, lol. I got all of the door panel for the interior fitted today, I cut them at home but they needed to be adjusted at the car at the shop. I fabricated all the battery cables and the ground cables and hooked them up. I made the ground wire and ran it for the MSD ready to run. I also put in some more insulation on the firewall (interior). I didnt do this in the mustang so I decided to try it in the wagon to cut down the heat. I got this insulation from J and J fabrics and spray glued it on and duct taped the seams. I wanted to do this before I installed the wiper motor and all that cluster that still has to be installed. I also installed the gas pedal and mocked up some flat stock to make my new carb work, more of that next week. I said that the guys had some new projects at the shop and I would take some pics, so I did The first one is a 1965 or maybe a 1966 Mustang GT 350. It was brought to the shop buy the original owner (72 years old). He got sick and cant finish his restore job. He rebuilt the motor and put it in but didnt get it running, he also started to do some sanding (the body is perfect as far as dents etc). And you can tell by the pics the interior is pretty good too. I really think this thing is cool, just because it is a survivor...Enjoy the pics There is also a 70 Mach 1 that the guys at the shop restored for a guy in Illinios and he no longer wants it, I think he drove it 500 miles or less. I know he has 90k into this thing it is beautiful, the shop is asking 69k for it And they just started on this 69 Super Cobra Jet, the shop owner bought it painted but thats it nothing else restored, so he is tearing it all down and making it brand new See you next Friday, Ryan
yes pretty much anything ford or mercury they can do with their eyes closed, for that matter any car in the 60's early 70's era they are very good, firebird camaro, elcamino, anything they do it all, they just specialize in Ford stuff, I have learned so much from these guys in just a few years!!!! and they sell a ton of parts for the same too www.bcclassicandperformance.com Ryan
