As you all know, me and the Mrs have a great time together.. We work together with the buissnes, train and compete the dogs, going to car shows and so on....

Some may have heard about her Volvo 855, that she loves, its always broken, and me, as a mechanic, and her father who are a car part salesman just plain HATE it...

Yesterday night i answered an ad on a carsite here in sweden. It is a guy hwo is so fed up with his caprice estate, that he will trade it even for a wagon that runs..

She doesent know anything yet, and i will ask her to drive the chevy van for work, the rest of the week, so if he follows through, that pesky volvo is f,,ing history!

Am i brave, stupid, a funny guy or a retard :coco: when i plan this deal? What do you think?

My first question would be...why is the guy so fed up with the cappy wagon?? Maybe you will be fixing on that one more than the Volvo.:49: Second....women are funny about things. Especially things they like. They are like elephants....they never forget. You may get away with this switch but there will be resentment in the back of her mind until the day she dies. She won't mention it until there is an argument years from now....THEN it will be mentioned.:yup: And in other selective disputes in the far future. Just don't expect the fact that "you sold her favorite car" to go away.:disagree: Ever.:2cents:

I am with SilverFox, nothing worse than a woman's scorn. Prolly something that should be discussed first before the transaction .... if you take the right approach you should get what you are after .... "Oh honey you look so nice today , by the way I was thinking .... blah blah."

Well... First thing first: The Caprice has the engine out of the car.. The guy planned to "paint it up" and fix a little.. I plan to get it "TBI-ed" (is the proper name LO-5??) As the winter is knocking on the door, the chevy vans are cheap here..

Second issue: She wanted a van to fit all the dogs, and to use it in the buissness, Wulffdogs, that is. So i bought her a chevy van a couple of months ago. (Will update with some pics later)

Third issue: I HATE the vovo.. I mean, really, really hate it. And Karin loves me, and i love her..

-So in my own mind i think this is a completely win/win situation. But as you mentioned, them gals are just another breed, and think about things in a different way..

Just think about this for a minute. You are taking away her car that she loves and bringing home some old station wagon with no engine in it. That is how she will see it. It doesn't matter how awesome it could be. Might be worth a quick conversation before you pull the trigger.

She loves her Volvo wagon.....you love your Buick Wagon. What if she traded yours for that cappy? Never mind....we would see the fireworks all the way from Sweden!
Scenario from the future.....the year 2045.....

2lo: Oh, c'mon honey, you know I always discuss things with you first.
Mrs2lo: Yeah...like 34 years ago on October 4th in 2011 when you sold my sweetie little vovo that I loved!

    :rofl2:

If you do go through with this plan without her approval, you have most huge nads.

Good luck, make sure your will is up to date, and let us know how well (badly?) you fair!

Maybe I have Sweden all wrong. I just thought it would be much easier to find a new wife than to find a fellow willing to trade a Caprice for a Volvo.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I think this is the funniest i have read... She is by her workplace right now and wonder why i laugh out loud.. I´ll try to find out a lie that work til she comes on the board and read this.. Hilarious!!

Honestly.. I have never before had any concerns about what my gf,s thinks about what cars i buy. With Karin its a whole new thing, someone mentioned that the fireworks should be visible all the way over the atlantic if she gets mad, ... I have NO doubt about that..

The only reason i even consider doing this without talking it over with her is that she might be happy about it..

But the all over opinion on this board convinces me that i should talk it over with her, and make it sound like its her own idea..

OR, i will get out to the shop the other day and fix her leaking exhaust:oops: and have a nice life ever after..

(Gee!! I really dont have the guts to do this..)

This is the car in question, if anyone is interested in the car and not only the story..

And this takes us to the next question; What does HGW mean? HGV is short for the swedish word for estate wagon, but it spells with a single V.. The letter W is rarely used in swedish, so it might be an "americanisation" of the actual word..
Maybe a strange topic for you guys, but i bothers me even more than people who call their T-top Camaro, Corvette and Firebirds for a Targa.. Since when did GM put porsche roofs on their cars???:taz:
