Here's a quick photo history of my wagon since November 2010!

She's a 1961 Plymouth 2-door Suburban, the last year for the 2-door wagon for Plymouth, only 2,464 produced.

Here she was when I bought her:

I parked her in my shop to dismantle her, and remove that wild paint!

I still have to finish the interior, and then go on a road trip!:)

Wow, what an amazing difference. Definitely prefer your paint treatment over the previous owner's. Excellent job.

My congratulations, Plaz. You bought a nice but gaudy wagon and worked hard and succeeded in bringing it back to an original look.:thumbs2:

Great color on that car and fine choice of wheels and caps.

--------Many other wheel-tire combos would make it look bitchin. A 2" drop in front would also look cool. But this looks so clean and original. I believe he got it right! :2_thumbs_up_-_animaMaybe a set of chromies and wide whites now and then just for shows. Or maybe not.

Thank you for the positive comments, fellas! I had been looking for one for a long time and I knew I'd want to go with an original appearance when I found it. Although she was alotta fun with the purple-n-ernge (I drove her a few days like that!), I suppose I'm more of a purist than a rodder when it comes down to it.
That color is original 1961 Plymouth, and she is stock on the exterior, save the '61 Chrysler hubcaps. (I like them mo-better than the Plymouth hubcaps).

My plan is to replace the late model bucket seats with an original bench, although I'm not in a real hurry, as those buckets are quite comfortable.

I love what you did, Plaz....but....the seats look GREAT and there are many guys that would LOVE to have those in their older wagon. And they are comfy, too! Unless you are going for points in shows, I would sure leave those in there. The car looks stock going down the road and only the purists would know that the seats are not an optional bucket. Be cool and drive in comfort. They look super in there and the car looks stock and period perfect otherwise. :2cents:

That purple & orange combo was truly hideous. I mean, it's an ugly car to begin with, why would they make it worse? But with that beautiful period paint job, it transforms the car completely. Now it looks graceful.

Let me rephrase. Not 'ugly', how about 'controversial styling', or 'an acquired taste', or 'great personality'?

Regardless, I'd be proud to own that vehicle now. Gorgeous restoration.
