I just lost my station wagon virginity and bought a 1969 Coronet 500. the wagon is in immaculate condition mechanically but has some rust on both quarter panels. I am looking for multiple parts and good resoures for reserch. i would greatly apperciate any advice! pics will be posted later
Worst damage for Mopar... You may have the worst damage of all Mopars- rear quarter. It's not so much the quarters as it is the subframe. I've had about a dozen old boats from that vintage and retired each one when it started to rot at the weld. If you got lucky and all the damage is in the sheet metal, you are indeed very lucky. Mopar is Mopar unless you get an Imperial. Anything will bolt on anything. Some cars appear with half a dozen badges, but alas, it is the same car. Good luck!
Welcome Rootsbrothers! What parts you lookin's for? As a Mopar wagon owner myself I have my ear to the ground for parts. Unlike the other popular B body cars, nobody repops wagon specific sheetmetal--like the lower quarters. In regards to interchangability,be careful. Some wagon specific parts do interchange between Plymouth and Dodge. However body parts (sheetmetal),trim, and a few oddities do not interchange between Plymouth and Dodge B body wagons. Plymouth 2 doors and sedans have a shorter wheelbase (116 inch)than the wagons (117 inch),so the mechanicals are different (brake cables,driveshafts,etc.). To the front bumper to the end of the front door everything is the same with the four door sedans. From the back door to the tailgate nothing body wise interchanges with sedans. B body wagon rear leaf spring shackles are wagon only, just an example. Later B body wagons came with wider rear axles compared to coupes and sedans. None of the C body wagon parts interchange with the B bodies. Hope this helps
Thanks for all the info! it will surely help; the sub frame is very solid, but we are in need of a couple of lower quarter panels and a spare tire well panel if anyone knows of any of those laying around? We appreciate the feedback!
Not many around here. But they can be fabricated with some time, patience and a good eye,IMHO. My other car I had no choice but to make my lower quarters from scratch since again-nobody repops and being surrounded by salty winters,no rust free sheetmtal to re-use.
