Greetings all! My name is Michael, and I live near Lansing, Michigan. My current wagon is an '87 Colony Park I've had since 1997. I've done a few things to it over the years (some for the worse, I'm afraid), but aside from an engine swap, butchering the dash, and some cosmetic mods, it's fairly close to stock. I'm acquainted with member FamilyTruckster from over at GrandMarq.net, and hopped over here after reading his thread there about fixing the tailgate window guides. To be fair, I recently bought my first fullsize sedan that's going to be a ton of fun if I ever get it running again, but the wagon will be around here for a long time to come. I also recently parted with a '79 Country Squire that I had a lot of fun with while the Mercury was getting prepared for the new engine and the carb swap. I bought it because I needed cheap transportation, and ended up doing a few things with it here and there, but ended up letting it go because it was basically an irreparable rustbucket and the sedan I got for cheap is fairly solid. Here's a picture of the '87 that made it into the GrandMarq.net 2008 calendar by popular approval:
Welcome..... Don't listen to Stormin' he'll get you in trouble. We need more GM's here so go buy a few dozen,
And that Michael, is a typical example of how I get toasted, roasted and fried. We do stay on topic, and we've really tried but "Sometimes Ethel..." we just can't resist. Anyway, enjoy
Now that the new guy knows we are all nuts, I'll answer the question. Since my car is an 82 and the Colony Park is an 87, it must have been the reverse. Mine just never grew up.
You guys are pretty funny! Pretty much what I'm used to from ol' GMN, so it sounds like I'll feel right at home here. I'd actually thought of buying either a Chevy or a Fox body to replace the Squire, but then this Panther sedan blundered across my path ....
