    LMAO @ WIX

Run from this wagon and run fast! if you wanted a 1a2 that you would do a frame-off resto on ..id say make a REASONABLE offer (which is not 2700 for that rot).but as i recall, you want a daily usable car. and this would require new floors to even pass a state safety inspection!

Well, I wanted a 1a2, and by the looks of things, it would probably be an easier task to get a regular wagon and convert it to a 1a2 than to take this and convert it to a good condition. Not to mention, I kknow nothing about cars and this is probably not the best way to start (a full rebuild). Though, I suppose if I did pull it off, i'd certainly learn a lot about the caprice..

And thanks for that Wix, it really puts things in perspective, haha

And you would learn that you can NOT beat rust once it has a hold on a car. This car would be a never ending battle.

I heard through the rumor mill of the internet that the frame on the 1a2 is thicker than the civilian model. I see no mention of this in its sales brochure, anyone have any idea if this is true or not?

I don't know, but, I will say that it is extremely doubtful.

Well, looks like the concensus is not to touch this. I'll let the seller know. Thanks for your help!

That is Michigan rusty right there. Too bad.

Just my opinion, but unless you are into total nostalgia or just to say you have it I think ex-police and even tow package cars (when we are talking 15+ y/o cars) are relatively overrated. I wouldn't kick a car out of bed for eating crackers if it didn't have one of those packages if you liked enough. Perhaps the 1A2 frame had some more reinforcements, but I would guess you would never tell the difference between that and a regular civi vehicle.

On another note. Did you mention that the K-9 wagons did have power rear side vent windows? I've never seen a factory vehicle with that option. I always thought it was cool.

This is the first I am reading this thread and seen these pictures.I think you made a good decision passing on this wagon.I don't see many cars that rusty here unless it is a truck used for launching a boat in salt water.Working at a dealership I get alot of used cars to inspect and work on and every once in a while I get one someone brought from up north with rust like that and most of the time easy jobs turn in to major jobs because of it.

    kozme,
I just looked at those pictures again. That car could be the same one I looked at about 2 years ago. If it's that same car, it was in SE Michigan then.

I really liked it, until i crawled underneath it.

Good decision to let that one go!
