Well, my 62 Catalina is still having engine issues. I think it is a mismatch between parts. The 326 engine has 350 heads putting the compression ratio in the dirt. Like high 6's!!! And I also think that this mismatch led to a head gasket fail on the passenger side.

I did get the correct cylinder heads for this engine and the correct head gasket. I am going to swap those her soon.

I also might be getting another wagon, but I will not talk about it until it does/doesn't happen. Don't want to jinx me..

But, I found an old school set of Cragar Keystone Klassics and some tires that are the same size all around. No huge tire in the back small tire in the front. I also hope that this will aid in acceleration. Here is a pic.

    Talk to you soon,
    Dave

Pontiac heads/manifolds/gaskets and other interchange information

    Dave,
I've found the Wallace Racing site to be very helpful when trying to mix/match Pontiac components.

There are some excellent interchange charts, Compression Ratio calculators (for various heads on various blocks), block/head/manifold casting ID charts, etc.

It can be a little challenging to find some of the information, but there is a lot there!

Keep us informed...and if you ever want to part with that '62, I'll give it a good home! ;)

It would be great if you could find some 326 H.O. heads - they had a special 326 H.O. engine in the '67 (+'68?) Firebirds (and maybe Tempest as well?) Probably a bit higher compression and maybe freer-flowing.

Those Keystones look grea on the Safari. I've always liked them a bit better than the Cragars........

LOL!!! The HO heads are very desirable. Funny that the 326 is junk unless you have the H.O. heads. Then people want money for them!!!

More to come. I am hoping to free up some garage space this week.
