Tuesday morning #2(Matt) called, woke me up about 6:00am. He and Tabby have been at the hospital since 2:00am. He said there was no hurray, things seem to be moving very s l o w l y. No problem, I had a shower, scrambled eggs and toast, a cup of tea and tidied the kitchen. Then mom and I head in, we get there about 8:15 just in time for a contraction then another, they're about 3:00mins apart HOLYMOLY, things have picked up! At 11:48am I became a Nanna(not Granny !) I wish I had a video of my son walking up the hall announcing that he has a SON! I will never forget that look on his face So Harley arrived looking very healthy and content. Tabby also looked great she did a great job, hardly made a sound through the whole thing she reminder me of Cindy-lou Who with her little coos After a bit we all left for a bite to eat so she could get some rest. Mom and I went back about 3:00 to get Matt so he could pickup a few things at home and take care of his cats. We dropped him back at the hospital and headed home, mom was getting pretty tired. Along the way Matt calls...there is a problem with the baby...it's his heart The hospital is preparing to have Harley airlifted to the IWK Childrens Hospital. Matthew is absolutely heart broken... Well it gets very busy from there...Harley arrives in Halifax about 8:00ish and they immediately enter his heart through a vein in his little leg and create an opening to help the blood circulate because he was turning blue. This procedure has really helped, his color is back to normal now and they have removed the breathing tubes and Taby is finally able to hold him and start being his mom. He is now in NICU and will stay there until he has heart surgery sometime next week. He will be in the hospital for at least a month. But the outlook is VERY GOOD. He will be able to lead a full life while being monitored by a cardiologist. Sorry, there will be no pictures. Matt and Taby wouldn't want his picture on the net. Anyway we have our new member to our family and I have actually managed a new wrinkle this week...grandkids! I didn't think the wrinkles would start that fast!
Congrats, grannie fannie!! We all hope and pray that everything goes as it should and Harley will lead a robust life!
Congratulations Fannie. Great news. And even with the health issue, in todays world, and the rapidly evolving world of science, the little feller will be well taken care of. Life has its down times, and then there are the rest of the times when the world just fills up with sunshine and full of promise. Gosh, a grandkid at your age means you will be a great....... next. Oh, how time does fly.
Congratulations fannie! My best wishes to your son and his wife and your entire family on the birth of Harley! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima Harley will soon be hale and hearty! Does Harley have a middle name yet? I suggest Beau. David
Grandmother Sounds like little Harley will do just fine. Like why did they name him Harley..... I'll bet dad doesn't own a Honda!----------- And let's face it Fannie, grannie fannie just fits so well. So stick that in your wrinkled up fannie and enjoy it. Hey, did I just see another wrinkle? We are great grandparents. Wrinkles are part of your future. Congradulations to all!
Congrats Nanna Fannie! Sounds like everything's gonna work out swell! I'll avoid the Granny references as my Nana Ruby from Pictou could get pretty nasty if you called her anything but Nana.
You guys are REALLY AWESOME! Thanks for the well wishes and ribbing I know you guys love to dance in the face of danger... Little Harley's middle name is Orion as in Orion's Belt. Harley, was a name they both liked from a baby name book. We were getting a Harley wether the baby was a he or she. But a he is what they were hoping for...as for Orion I'm not sure were that came from...and I didn't ask. It might have something to do with a dark night under the stars and I REALLY don't need to know everything I spoke to Matt earlier today it looks like Harley will have his surgery on Tuesday. Next to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, the IWK is the best children's hospital in the country. Although we are understandably concerned I KNOW he is in very good hands! Matt also said it was OK for me to post a picture of Harley. Harley has wires and tubes so don't be alarmed...OK?
Danger I laugh at danger fannie. Danger is my middle name...among others! Good luck on the babies' surgery. We are all prayin for the family. Now go play at the car show like a good granny. Our last grandson is named Grayson. We have no idea where that came from!
