Thanks--All-- I'm already checking for my J C Whitney discount coupon for new vinyl seat covers and carpet. She's got factory red interior so I'll go with the autocraft pleated vinyl and the nylon loop carpet, in red and see what else it needs. She's an original 283/powerglide, and that's what she'll probably stay, but if I find a good used Olds 455/turbo 400 I might make it into a tow vehicle. The other option is a 283 4 speed, keeping the bench seat, of course. I've got lots of spare cool parts stashed so it will definately be "low-buck--and fun". There will be NO "DO NOT TOUCH" signs in the window of this ol' longroof.

I've never put a "no touch" sign in any of my cruisers. Maybe because that is what I consider them "cruisers" not "show" cars. Now the Bel-Air we did a complete documented frame off but that was 8 or 10 years ago and the wear is starting to show, but have recieved more scratches and dings from drivin' them than at the cruises from admirers!!!

And as far as the scratches, bug and rock chips go, you know what they say...." IT MAY HAVE SCRATCES, IT MAY HAVE CHIPS BUT ONE THINGS FOR SURE I DRIVE THIS BITCH!"

Well, the preliminary parts search started yesterday as I searched a couple local spots for wagon stuff. Scrap iron prices are up so, since the snow has almost completely melted more loads of scrap cars will be hauled in to the recyclers and junkyards. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if I can get some items before the vrusher gets them. One place I go frequently for "experienced" auto parts, actually has a lot of older cars and quite a few wagons. I found 2 62 Chevys and 1 64 as possible donors for a tailgate glass. 1 62 did have a fairly nice tinted glass which was a bear to remove. I got a spare regulator, outside handle, latches, belcrank. glass runs and some trim, and a rusty but usable tissue dispenser. Here's some wagon shots from today. Mud was knee deep inplaces and I could only drive part way into the yard. This is pre "woodtick" parts time. The little bloodsuckers will be out in force in a few weeks, so I prefer mud to woodticks any day.

Here's my scores today: Tinted glass 1962--the sash/lower channel will need a "special" rebuild--it's rough!
Tissue dispenser, latches, handles, glass channels, etc.

    pics

Some pictures. I had to unload the wagon off the trailer to haul sandbags for about 4 days straight. The Missouri is flooding in a big way here. My son and I are volunteer firemen in the county and our department is primary water rescue with support from about 5 other agencies. My son is a swift water rescue swimmer in our 15 man team. I will be on standby for fire and other emergencies. This will put the wagon project on hold, but I'm still collecting parts.

I got 2 tailgates off the parts wagons and I can hopefully make a good one out of the 2 plus the original on the car. This will be the biggest part of the project.
