Hey CE, Do you need a double dresser with mirror to go with that single bed? I got one at my grandparents house that I'm redoing, and was going to give it to charity. I'll try to get over there and make you a pix if you like. It was my mom's when she was growing up and she is 68 now. But, that's the only piece of the bedroom suite that was left.
Clarification: Not redoing the dresser, but the house. That didn't read exactly like I thought it! CE, do you not ever visit Myrtle Beach or go to Florida? A man with a land yacht, one would believe would take lots of road trips. I'm right on the way. Would love to see someone get it, that would appreciate it!
I'm always tied down to home, no opportunity to leave. My parents both worked all growing up, I've been working as long as I can remember. Who the heck has the time or money for travel?
Never left Wisconsin????? That is scary. There is a real world outside of Cheeseworld. We love Wisconsin in the summer and fall. But I'm allergic to snow and cold! Some great times and places up there all the way to Washington island, etc. Drove the ole wagon around that big Lake twice. Myrtle Beach just had a bike event and Florida always has something going on. No goats on roofs though or fish boils! ---I remember bein in the Circus World Wagon building and seeing Nomads out the window next door in a yard.
I lived 30 years or so outside of Wisconsin. Always came back, though. The winters are tough when you get older but I have lived in Florida 3 times and never did like it. The weather in California is excellent but everything else sucks IMHO. New York City is great but real expensive. Etc, etc..... I was born & raised in Madison back when it was the greatest city ever. That is, unfortunately, no longer true, but, the rural areas where I have lived the last 35 years or so are beautiful.
Milwaukee used to be the greatest city on earth, in my opinion, until Father Groppi and the hippies ruined it.
No WAY! I went to college there and visited at different times in my early life. Madison was number one nationally during many of those years and rightly so. I have never found a city that could touch Madison during the 50's. Not ever.
You aren't from M'waukee though. My family goes way back, I'm actually the first generation since the 1800's to spend most of my life outside of the city. White flight and all that. It was a hell of a place. Madison was, and is a bit left.
A BIT? Yeah...way more so now days. That is because of the University. I'm sure willing to admit that Mad City is NOTHING like it was in the 40's & 50's. It always had been a mix of liberal and conservative...the UW bring the liberal side for the most part and the surrounding city the conservative side. Made an interesting contrast. I left Madison and when I came back it was nothing like it used to be. I was saddened by its change for the worse.
Dane County is bad news in general. When my dad opened our first gun store, it was out of our barn. We lived in York Township outside of Columbus, which is in Dane County. You would not believe the hoops you have to jump through just to get the zoning to sell firearms! It's like Wisconsin's California.
