I became a decorative painter in 2001 and the baby blue Mark VIII (although I could put my bakers rack in the trunk) was not the best ride for my new career. I'm driving down the road and see a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria with a for sale sign in the back window. I caught up to the driver pretty easy in my Mark and before you know it I own my first wagon. Drove her for two years, she needed a new heater core, I'd found a 1990 Ford Crown Vic in Ohio 90,000 miles and switched cars. I still see the old one from time to time. This Thursday I saw a 1977 Ford LTD (?) the big one, red on red station wagon listed at an estate sale. Very low miles,(63,000) the husband was a mechanic who'd passed away in 1987 the wife kept the car and last oil change was 2003 when it had 57,000 miles on it. The interior is MINT! Not one blemish! The exterior paint needs to be rubbed out has she has problems with some dings and trim molding. Started her up and fell madly in love. The tires were under inflated (I know I'll need to replace them, good tread but its been sitting) so the ride was pretty mushy, but great, shifts, barley hear the engine run, brakes new, new muffler and exhaust. Everything seems right, the car SMELLS good. The back tail gate would not close, I fiddled with it and it did. Then this other prospect opened the back and tried to close it and when it wouldn't he banged it hard over and over. I went over played a bit (I'm not sure what I'm doing) it closed. (I was getting upset at the guy) I think its former owner (older lady who just passed) wants me to have it. I went back thinking it would be gone, they had three other offers, I made one and its mine. Why I one person needs two cars, I'll have to cram them both in my garage a (vintage 1938 model) so it will be tight. Maybe drive the red one this summer I live a few blocks from the Woodward Dream Cruse. Its crazy I have bills. I should take a class for work. Have any of you folks been drawn to a car? Its like even though the odds were against me I'm suppose to own this car and love her. I'm single lady, 52 years old and have a great mechanic. My Jack Russell and Cairn Terrier will look cool hanging out. So am I nut's or what? I guess there are worst things then spending less then a grand on a car. I'll post a link to pictures as soon as I figure it out. And what is up with the tail gate my 1985 and 1990 have done the not closing thing as well. Is there a trick?
You came to the right place! Lots of folks with a lot of passion for these cars! Welcome to the SW-AMP (StationWagons Are My Pride) site!
well...I say....Yes your crazy for buying it!!! but if its any consolation.....were all a bit nutz here!! and as for the ..."why does 1 person need more than 1 car?"...... your not serious ...are you? ...if so....your asking the wrong group!! .....we are the worst support group in the world....
Rev, we know you're trying buddy. What are you at now 12 or 14? And that's after selling off a couple. Besides, we couldn't raz you if you gave up buying.
You are absoluty SMART to buy that wagon. What a looker. You will get no advice here not to. The best part is that it's a FORD!
Of course you're crazy, you don't need another car, do you? Oh, wait that's what wife my said just said to me! :banghead3: Got my eye on another wagon too.
Thank goodness for that. The world's axis was starting to tilt over on the Rev Coast. One more here will help bring it back in line.
I'll bet the Japanese are parking challenged. In order to register your car there you must prove to the "land" office first that you have parking. Pictures will do and a letter from your landlord. Obviously the Rev doesn't have a parking problem. I'm pretty full at three.
